Hmm.

Get the ASGS ZIP from the downloads section. It should have both the updater and ASGS, both latest versions. That should fix the issue.

I suspect that after you launch allegiance, you're changing the graphic settings and then when alleg tries to launch a second time at those (changed) settings, it crashes.

If this is the case, try to change the settings back to original and see if it will then launch the second time without crashing. If that works, you know it's related to the switching of resolutions invoked by alleg.

You might also try not changing any settings at all and see if a second launch can be achieved.

Possible, though I have launched a few times where I didn't do anything, not even enter the game lobby, and the next launch afterwards causes a crash.

That said, alleg does love to push my windows around between my 2 monitors.

my bad,

I re-read your problem and I realized it's an ASGS thing. The alleg crashing made me think of graphics since you have a nvidia gpu.

Try any of these things:

Make damn sure you don't have ANY mods installed..ie..CortUI or reticules or any of mesials high res goodies. Launch ASGS and click on Help / Update repair critical files.

Download the latest nvidia drivers and do an Uninstall from control panel then reinstall the new drivers. Afterwards, launch the nvidia control panel and goto the section to change scaling. Check the radio button next to "Use Nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio" and click apply. Now change it back to "Use my display's built in scaling" and click apply.

If that doesn't work. Launch Allegiance.exe by itself without using ASGS and see if you experience the same trouble. If so, I would recommend uninstalling allegiance and remove the allegiance registry entries. Reboot and then reinstall "As Administrator" for good measure.

one last thing...I remember a problem similar to this where win7 was treating an application as though it had two coppies of it. The copy I kept using was being ignored and a hidded or cached copy was being used. The way I fixed this was to install the application and then, prior to running the app, I created a system restore point. This seemed to tell windows that what it had was what I wanted kept in tact and all other shadow copies were then considered old and ignored by windows. It's a stretch I know, but what the hell. :)

Interesting.

So I started by launching allegiance several times in a row, using the Allegiance.exe file, and successfully did so.

I then launched ASGS, turned off the auto-launch after login, and logged in. I then went back into the alleg director, and attempted to launch via the allegiance.exe, and it gave me the same problem as always.

I then tried using the allegiance.exe file again, and it worked the second time (but because asgs didn't launch it itself, I couldn't go further than the free games button).

Going to grab the nvidia control center app shortly and try that out next.

That rules out the graphics or any hardware issues.

Did you try to run the ASGSupdate file by itself? Did you try setting the ASGSclient to run in server 2003 compatability mode? As Administrator?

Try running ASGSUpdater in Win2k3 compatibility mode. Or Run As Administrator. Or both.

Do it for ASGS as well.
