EDIT:

EDIT 2:

Magilla, ripping to the wrong thing is worth a boot - you can screw up a lot of stuff by ripping the wrong ship to a SR scout or assault ship at the wrong time. Ripping a basic scout to a SR scout is specifically mentioned as something you shouldn't do on the Common Mistakes page.

I'm over this incident but I protest the "boot as learning experience" method.
I work a lot and have limited time I can play this game, which I truly cherish; I mean I really look forward to my little time of "spacing out" yeah? I can only do it so little and late at night when there's almost always few people online; the few decent sized games I can find, half the time the comm won't even accept me.
When you boot me, it's a cathartic moment for you but it's another 20-30 minutes of my 3 hours I can play per week gone down the tubes because of your moment of frustration. It's not fair, man, to just throw boots around left and right like that.
Not to mention it imparts the general feeling of "inconveniencing" whatever team I join, even if the comm doesn't protest. I feel like I'm inflicting myself on the team just for bothering to try.
Finally if booting is the way to teach, you need to change the rules stated on the wiki. Having rules that aren't enforced undermines all the rules. I've been registered here for 3 weeks, averaging about 3 hours per week. Somebody tried to tell me I should have known better, I strongly beg to differ. See paragraph 2 for how effective my practice time is.

I know it's hard when you are a newer player.Multiple nicks helps reduce the frustration of being booted. We all make mistakes and comms can be quick on the trigger.Try to remember, though, that the comm and the team has worked hard to set up a situation that can be ruined by an incident like this. One thing this game has taught me in the 10 years I've played is humility. The fact that I still play it after 10 years is testiment to how fun it is...it never gets old. It's worth putting these incidents behind you if you can.
