It would be neat if you could capture an enemy scout and gain knowledge of the territory they mapped.

It would work like this.

1) Scout leaves base at start of game
2) Scout makes it through a few alephs towars other side of map
3) Uh ho... scout gets captured somehow by the enemy
4) scout is towed back to enemy base
5) Enemy starts hacking the scout's computer. The process could take five or more minutes, or even money?
6) Hacking works or doesn't. If it works, enemy gains knowledge of all the sectors the scout visited before being captured.

I think it would be a neat feature. Would potentially speed up mapping.

A decent scout could easily find the map himself before that process even finished. It is really not that useful to attack other scouts in the beginning of a game.; you're more useful quickly finding the map and enemy forces.

Large (LARGE) maps it might be useful . . . or in certain situations where alephs are very hard to find . . . . But probably not useful enough to code. The amount of code to change would be huge (I think).

I think if it were possible to capture enemy ships there'd be far more interesting things to use it for, like stealing technology, and allowing a faction to build a different faction's vessels...

... But it's never ever ever going to happen because it's such a ginormous change to Allegiance on such a fundamental level, and because who would want to code it? :P
