Well actually I sort of get it now; miners collect money, so you want to kill miners and defend your own, so you have more money than them, so you can buy upgrades which make it easier for you to end the game by killing all enemy bases.

One can argue about it all being about economy but its not, Icky is correct in that it is about destroying/capping enemy techbases, por examplé PK vs SRM on Awesome, PK might have lost a miner or two but because of the uneyed bomb run they won even though they had an atrocious economy

You'd think driving a bus bomber is easy, but bombing is actually one of the most critical tasks in the game. Sure, driving he lumbering truck is pretty straight forward, but you need to be very good with timing and stealth to figure out what to bomb, from where and exactly when.

Yep, exactly. It's the bombing that actually wins the game, but if you let the other team mine, they'll get enh tech by the time you can get bombers and they'll likely be able to defend against an ordinary bomb run, so most games tend to be a race to the highly effective base-killing endgame tech, like stealth bombers and fighter/bombers.

Of course, sometimes a bomb run succeeds and blows the other team right out of the water, and people often resort to last-ditch bombing efforts if they can't keep their economy going, under the theory of "this probably won't work, but what other choice do we have". Likewise, later in the game, miners cease to be as important because all the important tech's already been bought. In general, the hardest part is figuring out what is how important when.

Bombers are frequently used by some of the top level coms as distractions as well. The idea is, if they see a bbr heading to their techbase, the whole enemy team will start defending the techbase. Fortunately, your team knows the strength of the bomb run (hopefully the enemy does not) which a) prevents them from mounting offensives on your miners, etc. and b) lowers the amount of D they have.

or you have certain vooblet players whose most productive ability is piloting failed bombruns, and thus are more than willing to provide a distraction with glee and cheer, freeing up your veterans to do more useful things
