Anyways, I just thought I'd introduce myself, and I hope to see you around in game

I just played a game and did the training missions. This game is seriosuly hard and my kills/deaths was like 0.3 lol, I think the aim is to kill bases so I suppose it doesn't really matter :)

The aimS are far more complicated, and humbler: as you will see.

Personally I like shooting things that dont shoot back. And proxing. Scout is the most fun ship you'll ever fly!
A hero is not one who never falls, but one who gets up again and again, NEVER losing sight of one's dream!

The aim, summarized most succinctly, is to defend your miners and destroy their miners. Bases are a secondary objective, in that how easy or hard it is to defend/attack miners is mainly determined by who has which bases where. And since bases can't be destroyed without using a bomber, it's best to accomplish that by attacking/defending constructors rather than bases.

Actual literal goal is to destroy or capture all of the enemy's large bases (garrison and tech bases).

Easiest way to get to this point is to destroy their econ, via miners. If they have no miners they can buy no tech to defend against bomb runs. They also cannot plant bases forward to assault your miners if they have no money to buy bases.

All roads lead to money. However, killing miners does not ACTUALLY win the game, you have to cap or kill the bases for that.

Jimen, you can't win the game by killing all their miners. It just makes it MUUUUCH easier.

For any newbies who see this:

Allegiance occurs in pretty much these stages:

1) Expansion
The goal here is to take sectors so it's harder for the enemy to get to your miners, and conversely to make it easy for you to get to their miners.

2) Teching up
The goal here is to earn money to get end-game tech

3) End game
The goal here is to blow up everything.

Typically you want to get to stage 3 asap while stopping the enemy from getting to stage 3. But that means that if you can trade, say, 30 billion full miners for the enemy's last techbase, you trade your 30 billion full miners because winning is all that matters. Points don't matter, miner kills don't matter, all that really matters is blowing their last techbase before they blow yours.

Other than that, though, Jimen is right: being able to blow your enemy's techbase is usually reliant on mining.

(yes, I'm +1ing Icky)

I was summarizing, and "it's all about miners, also sometimes bases" is simpler than saying "it's all about economy" and then going through and explaining how that relates to the game progression as a whole and the major actions that can be taken and etc etc etc. I wasn't trying to be detailed, but I've observed (and experienced firsthand) that people don't really cross the line between "flying around aimlessly and doing what they're told" and "actually understanding how the game flows and how to win" until they realize that everything in this game comes down to money (newer players tend to assume, based on what they see, that it's all about bombing).
