Agreed. Most noobs are under the mistaken impression that these points have any meaning at all, which does tend to glorify the int whores. If it is an easy fix then I say go for it, since it has no real affect on anything. My impressions though is that nothing in allegiance is an easy fix, so maybe its not worth the effort.

Leave end game points as they are, they are needed so that I can come top of them and do the "I'm the king of the hill" voice chat.
When I return that is.

Newbies go by kills for reasons very much NOT related to the endgame scores and very much related to the fact that every other game rewards based primarily on kills. Seriously, while it sucks a bit that nanning and miner eyeing and most other scout duties aren't reflected in scores at all, it doesn't bother me, because even though it wasn't in the score, pretty much everyone ingame is gonna know and remember that I did it, and that's all the endgame scores are really for anyway - letting people know who destroyed the most and who got destroyed the most. But y'know what? If I've got 0 kills and 20 ejects, but I managed to pull off a particularly good stint of combat nanning or something on the team's top int whore, people are gonna remember it just as well as they remember the int whore, and I'm secure in that.

I remember getting like 3 kills 10 ejects and getting something like 400 points for picking up pods and grabbing flaoting tech and cash. The system is kind of wonky; I was fairly boot-worthy during that game. To be fair it was one of those late-night 3 hour abyss games.

I think, that instead of points it'd be better to have stats. ie, we already have amount of kills/ejects, base caps/kills, so why not simply extend it a bit and have amount of pods picked up, amount of rocks/alephs discovered etc... no need for points/scores.
whoring is fun but a waste of time ultimately, unless one is on miner D and can actually aim, then it suddenly becomes useful, unfortunately most wannabe whores tend to chase stray scouts and noob figs/ints mainly to pad KB.

I actually like this idea a lot. Remove the broken point system entirely and replace it with something actually useful. Include miner kills and con kills too and it would be great. You could just list the team members in alphabetical order (or rank order perhaps) with the winning team on top, or perhaps the two teams side by side.voobscout wrote:QUOTE (voobscout @ Dec 9 2009, 07:52 AM) I think, that instead of points it'd be better to have stats. ie, we already have amount of kills/ejects, base caps/kills, so why not simply extend it a bit and have amount of pods picked up, amount of rocks/alephs discovered etc... no need for points/scores.

After each game everybody sees the end game stats sorted after points and with this minimal adjustment we might get a few more utility players appearing in the 'top regions'.
Its not really about who cares about stats or something as complex like revising the entire point system. Its simply about a little adjustment that might change peoples perception on utility roles by having more names belonging to the latter group appear right after each game.
