Help convince my boss to give me time off

I asked if I could leave work an hours earlier on Thursday (and work an hour later on the Wednesday) to go to some Italian classes and I was turned down :(

Strange really as my company are quite good with HR things normally. If I ask to leave 30 minutes early on a Friday now and then to catch a train, they're fine with that. I guess it was the formal changing of my times they had issues with.

edit - I don't have a customer-facing role.

This is one of the rare cases I advocate lying.

I see no good coming from saying you want to take time off on a monday morning to play a video game.

If you are looking for good lies I could help you but I just don't see any old school boss letting you take time off for such a reason.
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

Agreed. Lying is pretty much your only viable option.
