So, I know you have all been seeing alot of sup games. and there are several things that I think are the reason for this
1) Sup > SY
now that SY is being used more, as a commander the choice of going sup or exp or tac, its better to go sup, because your going to end up getting dis2 for galvs, and dumb3 for your figs, getting that dis3 is the end of SY.
2) Hvybooster
This wasn't so much a problem because there were still reasons to go other techpaths because you weren't so worried about sy (see reason 1)
3) Figbees
XRM got nerfed, and as a result, figbees got more use, as they did, we really discovered how powerful they are, and they are powerful, very powerful.
4) sup perks
I don't have the exact dates when we did this, but I recall something about fig size as well as fuel. This exacerbates several problems, see 2 and 3
Perking tac and exp WILL NOT SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, we must examine sup and do something to nerf it back down, ideally, removing hvybooster from sup would solv many problems, and reduce its effectiveness against sy as well. slower figs also perk both exp and tac. I think overall, we need to have slower figs. with less potential for speed.

1. Adv sup with its cheese tech for lets sayMalicious Wraith wrote:QUOTE (Malicious Wraith @ Nov 9 2009, 08:17 PM) 1.
Sup damage to SY was already nerfed.
2.
Yummy cheese tech. Its fun though!
3.
Not that OP, easily stopped.
4.
Not an issue.
sup = 10k
figs = 7.5k
adv sup = 25k
dis 3 = 5k
dumb 3 = 5k
hvybooster = 7.5k
so around 60k for maxed out sup, with this, you can stop almost all bombruns, you can stop all htt runs, you can hunt down ints like no business and you can eat Battleships for lunch. and keep in mind, for many factions, it is CHEAPER to get all of this.
I'm not even going to price out how much getting a battleship is, because by the time you can get a battleship up, they will have adv sup, and the capability of blowing it out of the water as soon as it enters a sector. using your hvybooster, you can outspeed the longtoms or skycap, you can close the distance rapidly, and dis3/dum3 is instant death to a capital ship.
2) I agree its fun, but its what is putting sup at the top of the endgame tree.
3) when was the last time you saw a tp2/ figbee team lose? except to another tp2 figbee team? they are FAST! even with adv sup/cheese, it is still hard to keep a base alive to any decent run.
4) by themselves no, cumulatively yes

IC EXP with a forward base or two and a power HTT push rapes any team that tries to tp2, simply because it takes too much of a commitment of pilots, making their bases completely vulnerable. I do it all the time.Psychosis wrote:QUOTE (Psychosis @ Nov 9 2009, 09:26 PM) 3) when was the last time you saw a tp2/ figbee team lose? except to another tp2 figbee team? they are FAST! even with adv sup/cheese, it is still hard to keep a base alive to any decent run.

I don't want that time to be a @#(!-storm of hate and schadenfreude.
add another 10k to that for adv figs because you need them to mount hvy booster, then ga's yadda yadda
I know the point psy is making however, but it really revolves around do we want this to be a sg core or pug core. atm i feel sure that this core is far more balanced for sg play than your average pug. I'll bring it up in the office

I asked this question in the topic about bios fighters and was told by spidey that community core is intended to be balanced for pugs not squad games. Whether or not everyone agrees with this though is an entirely different question.Broodwich wrote:QUOTE (Broodwich @ Nov 9 2009, 08:18 PM) but it really revolves around do we want this to be a sg core or pug core. atm i feel sure that this core is far more balanced for sg play than your average pug.
