One thing not mentioned be prepared for the occasional boot in game to mostly help you learn (but then rejoin under a second 'hider' and ask why) and apart from this great introductory post, avoid the forums to ensure you really have a good time with this game.

Welcome to Allegiance!
The forum has a combination of care bears and trolls. Lots of drama.
In regard to the CDT I program- TAKE IT. It is self study, but it will help more than you might think. Just having vets hold you to a higher standard than other new players is a big help. (And they will, trust me.)

Generally it's true, CDts are seen as better pilots. Get to know the various ships but focus on the scout at first, it's really a do all type of ship. Later on in the course you get to the fun stuff like SFs and SBs etc.derfmancher wrote:QUOTE (derfmancher @ Oct 22 2009, 11:06 PM) Welcome to Allegiance!
