Problem Encountered at Step #: 7
Which Program (ASGS/Allegiance): Allegiance
What Error Message: AutoUpdate error. Try adain later. As a last resort you may want to reinstall. See updateerror.txt for details. From updateerror.txt: Update attempt at: 10/16/09 at 19:28:17 (local time)
InternetQueryDataAvailable() Failed.(12031)
Comments (What you tried, description, etc):
I can see the scrolling message and the Autoupdate updates part of the files, but cannot get the missionbrief.mdl. So next time I start it it tries to get this file again, but fails.
Looks like connection is ok, as previous files are downloaded.
I tried updating the ASGS, deleting the filelist, disabling my antivirus program, making sure that firewall allows allegiance to pass, read number of posts here on Helpline considering the AutoUpdate problem, but no joy.
One possible solution would be to provide access to the directory for manual download of those files.
AutoUpdate geting only part of the files
hmm. It's not quite clear all the steps you took, but kudos to you for reading through the various documentation!
Have you run ASGSUpdate.exe directly? It's in your /Allegiance folder. Try running that (without any other Alleg program running) and see if that helps. You could also try uninstalling, reboot, and re-installing again. (make sure the Allegiance folder is empty before re-installing)

I did run the ASGSUpdate.exe directly from the directory, without the app running. All it did was download the Client, but this didnt help either.
Could someone please give me access to the files being downloaded by autoupdate, so I can get them manually ?
I mean the Filelist is there, so someone had to put it there. It looks to me like this particular file is missing at the download server. I will try to remove it from the list and see if it gets the other files (if at all possible, as the list is also being downloaded).
Edit: As assumed the filelist is being downloaded from the same server, so modyfing it localy makes no sense. I also tried write protecting it, but then the autoupdate fails at the very beginning.
I realize that the path to autoupdate files is written in the cfg file, but i cannot access this directory manually to get the files
All the logs and the debug info "InternetQueryDataAvailable() Failed.(12031)" Is a clear indication that this file is missing from the server. Could you please point me to someone who is responsible for puting the newest files there? Looks like its the only person who can help.
Small update: Looks like the missionbrief.mdl appears in my autoupdate directory. Maybe its corrupted or something (bad CRC ?). Deleting it didnt help either. Oh the pain, I so wanted to get back in the game this weekend

Well, I can provide you to a link to a copy here. But the problem with that is there's usually more than one file that you're tripping over - it just craps out on the first one it has a problem with. Then there's another, and another, etc. Usually. Let's hope that's not going to be your case.

Thanks a lot FreeBeer. This did the trick for me !!!
So as far as my installation goes this issue is solved, but to fully solve it for others I would recommend checking the missionbrief.mdl file on the autoupdate server and its DB entry.
Thanks again.
