Was issued a new HP nx9420 recently.
I finally installed Alleg on it and whenever I start hitting some target with my miniguns or whatever, gameplay gets extremely choppy and I can barely do a thing. I think the same happens when someone else starts hitting target and I am near him or her.
Specs are: Centrino Duo 2.16 GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon x1600 256MB, 1GB RAM, SoundMAX Integrated HD audio.
Alleg instalation is fresh, downloaded and installed from FAO.
Anyone had the similar problem?
Choppy gameplay when hitting target

Thank you everyone for responding.
That was on usual Servers, *not* on FAZ Beta.
Sound drivers are latest.
Decreased the sound quality.
Played around with Sound Accel.
Result seems to be somewhat better but still sometimes choppy gamplay. /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />

I've got the same problem with my laptop, but since it's a Macbook Pro, all I can really do is wait for new drivers.
Same graphics card with a Radeon X1600 mobility, sound drivers are Sigmatel advanced audio, and the processor is a 1.83 Ghz Core Duo.

No, pants are still optional. But for you, recommended.

Hm, that's a good idea Immz. Anyone knows the name of that file?

Removing (or renaming) the sound file is definitely worth a try (off hand I don't know which file it is, some are faction dependent, and there are different files for different guns so you need to know which ones are giving you issues). If it turns out one gun sound works fine, while a bit un-exciting, you can use that sound for all guns, or all guns that give you issues. But that is a kludgy fix.
If you are desperate for a better fix and really want to play on the laptop, try an external (USB) sound 'card', and disable the on-board sound chip. If you buy the USB sound interface from a reputable local store they should let you return it if it fix the problem for you. I think decent ones run in the $50 to $75 range. Ask around to see who here is using any and which ones are known to work or known to have issues with Allegiance.
What version of DirectX do you have installed? These days it is not sufficient to just see if it is 9.0c as there are like 20 different releases of 9.0c /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" /> To be on the safe side, download the latest DirectX redistributable off of MS's web site.
