Who Supports Spqr? And who doesnt?
Believe it or not I, Ryjamsan, SUPPORT spqr, However I think its a waste of time and the pilots should go fly with other squads and move on. If down the road they want to reform like SF did then fine, do it
I have to admit rebuilding BS sometimes makes me feel like im pissing in the wind. However BS has a long history and die hard members. And a real chance of rebuilding our squad. However SPQR doesnt have that do they?

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.

Look at it this way, if SPQR can muster a bunch of recruits I'm sure a few vets would be more than happy to train them. So SPQR that's it recruit people, and not the fuzz method of recruiting... I mean going into a CDT class and finding promising recruits.
I for one would be glad to help train some CDTs to help support SPQR.

IF SPQR can pull themselves a number of decent recruits, then the ocmmunity would be more willing to help them.
The thing is that the recruiting practices need to change. For a squad in that kind of situation, the original recruiting policies of "Have the squad vote on it" don't work. It needs to be a command decision. This means that you don't get noobs/voobs voting for noobs/voobs because they don't know the game themselves and think half a skill is a skill (No offense intended, but that's what it was). You get the command crew - which should be people that have good community standing AND good knowledge of the game - giving a good look over the potentials and deciding whether to reject or accept them. Additionally, the command should have free power to remove a person from the squad for whatever reason they deem fit. This is, of course, a double-edged sword. First, they can remove problematic people from the squad before they become too much of a cancer. However, if this is used too often, or for the wrong reasons, it'll lower the command's status within the community and within the squad.
If I were offered the command of SPQR again, it would be a whole different ball game than from last time (And hell, with my experiences from then and afterwards, it just might work). However, since that's unlikely to happen, I'll simply have to place my advice at the disposal of the command of SPQR.

for the record, and please feel free to pull my post, I never insulted. If you think it is an insult to tell my opinion that a new squad(SPQR) was not needed due to low turnout, then I guess that is insulting. However it is still my opinion that SPQR shouldnt have been founded in the first place. You can bash me all you want.
Other then XT no other SQUAD and No OTHER person has done more to try to help SPQR than myslef and BS. BS lost members because we had to fly with SPQR. So dont give me this bull@#(! that ive insulted SPQR. We had highly respected members of BS complaining about having to fly with SPQR. SO STFU

Oh thats funny comming from the founder of the squad who only bailed on them. Perhaps if you had a disagreement with some of you pilots the thing to have done was boot THEM out of the squad.
Its like you had a child and then left it when he got mouthy with you.
And where will these recruits come from? Hell SysX RT and PK recruit anyone worth flying with:) And will continue to do that as long as they are on top. Not many want to join squads that dont win on a regular basis.
What noob with skill will join spork?
when Spidey just buys them beer and gets them drunk and makes them sign up before they are sober again:)

NO, just no, one of the ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL STEPS OF SKILL BUILDING IS LEARNING TO PLAY WITH A SQUAD. SPQR is NOT A SQUAD. Putting a cadet in SPQR at this point would be like leaving your teenage daughter with a bunch of prostitutes.Parasitism wrote:QUOTE (Parasitism @ Oct 14 2009, 10:05 PM) Look at it this way, if SPQR can muster a bunch of recruits I'm sure a few vets would be more than happy to train them. The expanding teaching that a graduated cadet gets from their new squad is very important. I would like to submit a case example at this point and let reality speak for itself.
DusanC, during cadet, very promising, picked up a lot of attention from the various squads, joined SPQR, now while many squads are still looking to snipe him away, we realize that we are going to have to spend nearly 1.5X the normally copious amount of time un-teaching him and re-teaching him to play like we do.
Is this harsh? $#@!ed up? probably. Do I care? does the rest of the vet community care? NOT $#@!ING REALLY.
Which leads me to case example #2. In most normal situations, squads do not snipe players from other squads, and if it does happen, its usually fairly drama filled or everyone saw it coming. SPQR has lost ALL, yes ALL of its desirable pilots to the larger and better squads. What does this mean? for those of you too clueless to see it, WE DON'T THINK YOUR A SQUAD ANYMORE, and we are treating you like it.
next to lastly, I would like to point out that SPQR is no longer a competing squad, in order to not forfeit a squadgame immediately, they must have 100% attendance. if they lose one more player, they will be completely unable to fulfill the requirements and at such time IMHO should be brought up for consideration for liquidation by the administration. When it was created, SPQR barely had enough of a reason to exist, nowadays, they have 0 reason to exist. Seriously, how many games have they even PLAYED?
lastly, while going out and tagging every voob you get your hands on to increase your numbers may meet the minimal requirements, its a move that should be met with admin dissolution.
IMHO any of you guys wanting to keep SPQR around should abandon it for a bit. At a later date you can resurrect the squad (or create a new one, maybe with a better name? Like DasSquad (I'll let you have that one for free)) if you really feel it's necessary and at that time you might have the actual skill needed to get one going and stable.
It's not any 1 thing that makes us think you should disband sprok, but a combination of things. GB & BS have shaky turnouts, but noone is calling for their blood (except for people who think ryj should be kicked), DSM is full of noobs and voobs, and yet they're managing to stay afloat in community opinion (well more like stabley submerged?). ACE has a hard time pulling their pants up after pooping, but other squads aren't sniping off all their talent like rich fat cats picking the barely edible pieces of a horse and putting it in a stew so that later it can be tasty.
Basically, STFU and GTFO while you still have a shred of dignity left. You're only hurting yourselves if you keep standing in stagnant water forever, but man does it stink for the rest of us.
