So if you have AVG or Avast! and are experiencing a message coming up with 'An Unknown Error Occured' and also trying to close ASGS gives another error.
SOLUTIONS FOR AVG
Number 1:
If you cannot see Local Settings and Application Data etc... then when you reach 'C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername' go to tools -> folder options -> view and then click on 'show hidden files and folder'barizanz wrote:Was just about to post when I saw you beat me to it.
I'm using AVG free edition 8.5.421 and there is a way to get Allegiance to work without uninstalling AVG. Add the Xenocode directory to the exceptions list
Open AVG interface
Open Resident Shield menu
Click Manage Exceptions near the bottom of the screen
Click Add path
Find your local Xenocode directory C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Xenocode\
Apply
It worked for me, not sure if it's a general solution though

OrBotzman wrote:You can also customize the 'Standard shield' :
tray icon -> On-Access Protection Control -> Standard shield -> Сustomize -> Advanced -> Add 'C:\Documents and Settings\<User name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Xenocode\*' to the list
Gandalf wrote:Instead, before you click "login" on ASGS, go to avast tray icon -> Pause Provider -> Standard Shield.
Then log on - once you've successfully logged on, you can reactivate Standard Shield (tray icon -> resume provider -> Standard Shield) - it only causes a problem when logging on. So you only need to turn the scanner off for 10 seconds![]()
