At first it played well but I was clueless. Now I am a novice and learn slowly. But lately my ship bounces around, teleporting itself around a sector. I cannot enter green doors while on autopilot, and alephs do not work for mel.
alephs do not work
Judging by the "teleporting around sector" bit and Autopilot being stupid(er), and the fact that it wasn't always like this, I'd say you're suffering from Solap Syndrome.
Be aware that there will be lag spikes on Solap to some people at some times. They're intermittent, and while the problem is being looked into, it's not going to be resolved instantly.

Good. Its not me. I am not a leper. I do not have to uninstall and reinstall anything. Which is good because there is no uninstall on the program list. I guess I will have to investigate ping. I have not done that since I checked for the correct time from the National Bureau of standards.Andon wrote:QUOTE (Andon @ Oct 7 2009, 10:06 PM) Judging by the "teleporting around sector" bit and Autopilot being stupid(er), and the fact that it wasn't always like this, I'd say you're suffering from Solap Syndrome.

Now it is worse. I bounce off the green doors, and Pterydactyl is accusing me of putting probes at red doors which I did not do.

If you type esc-p while in game it will display your ping.

It was within the limits everyone else had. I still could not go back to base by typing bp. I still bounce off the green entrances and cannot use alephs. If there were an uninstall in the all programs list I would use it and try a fresh install. Maybe I can do it from the control panel.
All of the above-mentioned symptoms are caused by very heavy lag on your side or the server dying. If this is happening constantly, you can try and get help on your connection issues (fill out the template from the READ ME FIRST annoucement). If you do not want thtat, this topic will be closed, as you've obtained your answer.
There is not an uninstaller in the 'all programs list' There is allegaince academy and allegaince. But there is no uninstaller that I usually see when I download a program.Andon wrote:QUOTE (Andon @ Oct 8 2009, 03:08 PM) There's an uninstaller in the folder you installed allegaince in, I think.
Also, lag "Spikes" sometimes are too quick to notice on the ping list - they only last for a few seconds.
When I took statistics I learned that to be 95% confident that an event was always true it had to be tested at least 20 times. If you did not know you had a double headed coin you would have to flip it 20 times seeing heads come up each time to be 95% sure heads would always come up. I have not bumped off green doors or passed past alephs 20 times yet. I want to learn to do a private one player game first.
I do not have the savvy to write a program to extract the ping a statistically valid number of times either. I just feel it is probably not the lag. I did try to play a one person game once using a different core. It might be that. Or maybe my next door neighbor is shooting evil 'fail at allegiance rays' into my computer. It might be that.
I will try the private game, and uninstall from the comtrol panel followed by reinstall before I work on the evil rays bit. If those do not work I will try the ping theory. I may find my old CAT 5 cable and try runnning straight from the modem which might decrease lag.
