Allegiance lost a lot of its charm
Another case of a complaint regarding the "harcore mother$#@!ing players on a mother$#@!ing spaceship" problem. We don't have enough players to form a 'random comradery' community, so everyone knows and sees what everyone else does. When someone gets booted (and I don't like this) people whine on the fora (no offence intended).
Less whining and less booting, in that order, might very well be needed.
Comming in this age isn't easy, although it's probably better than situations where you have hundreds our thousands online. I'm no major comm, but I've found things far easier since I gained my shiny *. In days of old, I'd garner a team of newbs, voobs and *vets who I know personally*. I'd ask the team to perform a mission critical to game outcome, such as bombing a base to prevent the GT enemy from getting Adv tech once we pushed a base to their Pali sector.
Team pops out of base with the correct mix of nans and ints. Suddenly, one of the nans spots a miner on the other side of the sector. All of my Vet ints, for reasons known best to their e-peen, decide to abandon the bomb run and go for a miner which would STILL HAVE BEEN THERE ONCE THE BASE WAS DEAD. Enemy D pops out and kills our undefended bomb run.
Now. I don't like booting. I will bake [sic] a point of trash talking the booting comm when it happens to me. However, sometimes people so flagrantly disregard the comm, the team's thrust and general common sense that it's fair for the comm to become enraged. I became enraged with the piots referred to above, and they're some of the most respected in all of Alleg for their work in the community and their common, no-nonsense, sense!
It is likely that the boot you referred to above was a mere consequence of such a situation. Don't take it personally. The advantage of such a close-knit community is that you can choose not to fly for said comm since you'll remember the name. Despite the booting and bitching, this game is still alive and still entertaining thousands of minds all over the world. That, after all, is the main thing.

PhalHell, don't recognize the nick, but welcome back to allegiance! just in time for the MS SY rollback of Community core, I hope you like BIOS SY rush
to the rest of you muppets hijacking this thread:
I don't boot noobs/newbs, I boot voobs. If your a noob/newb, your still in my "welcome to allegiance, ohh look he rammed a rock stage" I expect nothing from you, so anything you do is a welcome relief. Now, once you've been playing for a while, and your still making the same damn mistakes, I will start booting you.
why do I do such a mean thing? Why prey upon this relatively new player? Because, they have on more than one occasion proven to me the following:
1) they don't listen
2) they don't listen
3) they don't listen
Yes, that's right, if you don't listen, I'm going to boot you. Now there is a period of voobness where I will be tolerant, I will ask you why, and if you respond and we can talk about it, I'm cool. You learned something, I don't need to boot you. If you don't listen/ refuse to answer/ mouth off, please enjoy your lobby and logging back in with a hider. If you repeat this process several times, I'm not going to boot you anymore, I will simply NO LONGER ACCEPT YOU ONTO MY TEAM. Problem solved, you can't bitch about me booting you.
I love new players, I love newbies, and I will take time out of my day, to teach someone to play better, all you have to do is ask! But if someone repeatedly refuses to improve or learn, they can expect to soon be on the receiving end of some tender ASSHAT ministrations.

Sam, you are not including the mathematically significant portion of the community with split and/or multiple personalities!

So after 2 pages bitching about booting noobs who are protected, am I the only one to bother to check Phal's rank and see he is not a noob?
Edit: I should say I totally agree some comms boot way more than is necessary but some people just don't listen. I have lost count how many times I have had people on my team try to galv IC (and no, they were not noobs either).

MrChaos true story of what happened today
I decided to stop by the supermarket for a freshly made sushi dinner from the local sushi chef. While waiting chatted up a fine woman and now have a number as a result. She is professional, under 30, pretty, and a triathelete. I am only the first. Me and the chef are tight since I regularly tip him under the table, and the awesome mother $#@!er helped me out in the conquest talking me up and charming the hell out of her with grandfatherly manners. So see being cool, fair, and nice to others even when you don't have to reaps unexpected rewards in life. Hopefully this is a lesson we all understand.
