I remember playing on the newbie server way back when. Unless there are a lot of newbies, it makes no sense to have a newbie server with a <4 cap.
I mean, seriously, how many times during the day are there more than 10 people with a rank 4 or less?
Newbie Games
Ahhhh, thank you! I somehow missed that bit of information in the excellent getting started material. I had been trying various things to coax the "Enable Empty Teams" (or some such) option into allowing me to click it, but I had no luck.logsniffer wrote:QUOTE (logsniffer @ Mar 12 2009, 09:07 PM) If you want to learn how to fly without people always shooting you, create your own game via the 'create game' button in the lobby. Join a team and then click the checkbox by the other team which will make it a single team game. You then are allowed to force the launch.
Also, get on TeamSpeak. The directions are on the wiki : http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.php/Main_Page
You can ask questions and will probably pick up some tips. Be warned the conversation isn't always about the game.

Thanks. At this point I don't have any specific questions. I haven't finished reading the cadet info yet. But it's nice to be able to try out the loadout screen and various commander screens that get mentioned but not used during the training missions.Gstar wrote:QUOTE (Gstar @ Jul 1 2009, 09:18 AM) You can ask questions and will probably pick up some tips.

There's a proposal in the pipeline that may end up making the newbie games more useful.
It's a bit of a hassle to get over the first hump in the learning curve here, but it's well worth it.
