It's been around for at least 3 years....maybe longer.

TP1 and TP2 probes shoot Mini3 at all oncoming missiles, and have since at least MS1.25.

So, yeah. It's been around for a while. It just doesn't get seen much because it ONLY shoots at missiles

Not enough to matter either. Heavy boostered fig with Dumb 3 is great for killing a TP2 before it activates. I haven't had any of my dumbs disintegrate due to that phalanx system.

It shoots 'at' missiles in the same way that driving from CA to Maryland is driving 'at' New York City. I.e. it couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

The real question is "why?". Was this an intentional addition, or an accidental development?

Definitely intentional. As to why? I'm not sure

Was it intelligent design?.. Or did the TP2s evolve! :ninja:

It was definitely evolution. See, TP developed the minigun1 turret as an initial response to missiles being fired at it. Unfortunately, this didn't prove strong enough, as the missiles kept destroying the TP probes. As the gun got more powerful, so did the missiles, and this is why TP2 now has mini3 as a point defense system

It's also worth noting that the reason a TP probe explodes after a certain amount of time is that it reaches the end of its lifecycle and releases a massive cloud of spores, which eventually become other TP probes.

You guys have to remember that there used to be no TP2(Only TP1). Making Teleport probes shoot missiles was a nice way of making them live long enough to do something usefull.
