Especially when defence is needed, I consider it a good trade if I can pick up one or two good pilots and get podded as a result. This is doubly true when flying interceptors in enemy sectors.
The above does no favours for my kills/podding ratio, but I'm pretty sure it's good for actually winning the game.

<bp|> or an obsessive compulsive paladin of law like Adept
First don't use autopilot for pods as it tends to phail. When you get close together the pod should cut speed allowing an easy pick up.SpaceJunk wrote:QUOTE (SpaceJunk @ Apr 28 2009, 04:45 AM) Pick pods with autopilot. J, P; or F3, left click on you, right click on pod.
Rank is a lie. Real skill is self evident during the game.
I got called moron the other day for not camping an aleph. In fact, I knew the bomber had no nans, and killed it. So you see, moron-calling isn't related to skill.
Sometimes there's nothing you can do about it. I once got caught after a mutiny following still the orders of the previous commander, then got booted. D'oh!
Next rank isnt a lie. Real skill is exactly what it measures, yours against the community.
Finally
Your a five because you have played enough games to get your Mu low enough to artifically inflate it to a five. This is done to keep people from whoring on the other new players since some players will never play a game that will count simply to whore it up on the new guy.
Sadly being called a moron and worse is part of the game no matter your rank. At some point you'll find yourself doing too. Sad but true.

I challenege the premise that this is the internet, people are not nice... point of view.
Positive change is something that happens small and catches on because a few people are willing to standup to the status quo and have the vision and strenght of character not to bend or be bullied by those who would berate their vision.
This community set's a standard of decorum that I am proud of. People act more like civilized human beings here, then when we firs started, due to the hard work of a lot of folks and the vision of Pook , Thal , Tiger and all the @Allegiance , forum mods and a cast of phenomenal SL's and members who simply won;t allow that crap.
I refuse to accept the fact that the internet has to be full of scum sucking children and adults that couldn't back up their bravado anythwere else but feel empowered to act like absolute jerks and expect that it is okay because nothing can be done about it.
This is a place( as witnessed by this thread) of people who earnestly want to be part of a fun place to play that is not like the rest of the filth and nastyness that are some places on the internet.
I beleive we have created a small corner of the Internet where people are nice and you can expect to be treated with respect. (unitl of course you mouth off and open up pandora's box) .
my perspective...

I don't disagree that there are a LARGE amount of people who on the web are decent people both on the web and in real life. HOWEVER, they are FAR out shadowed by the amount of people who either believe that they are ENTITLED to things on web, or are just @#$%@#s on the web because it has "no real consequences" etc. As a whole, from experience, those that frequent games/forums have no respect for others BECAUSE the web allows them a facade. None of the people who are scum sucking @#$%@#s on alleg would dare say the things they do here if we knew where they lived.

Nope! I know what these small corners look like, and a great one is the old KoL. People didn't even make fun of you for making a mistake, they just gave you the right answer and sent you on their way.Cable wrote:QUOTE (Cable @ May 7 2009, 04:13 PM) I beleive we have created a small corner of the Internet where people are nice and you can expect to be treated with respect. Nicer than other parts of the internet, maybe, and there's certainly nothing malicious about the FAO, but to call us respectful is too much.

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.
