Hi,
I am very new to this game, but my rank says NOVICE 5.
I have NO CONTROL over what rank the machine is giving me. Do I think I am a newbie yes, but this is the third time in as many days I tried to get on here and have people calling me RETARD and MORON for no reason. a pod flew past and before I could even get turned around to assist, I get called Moron and a pilot asking me to get booted. The whole time before that, I had been laying my probes and mines the best that I know how. I've only had the game TWO WEEKS.
I am sure I'm not the only new person experiencing this bad sportsmanship here by a couple of children.
Only one late last night game did I have a commander who gave me waypoints and objectives. and had a proper perspective of command, tonight, they were merely letting everyone be disorganized, and I didn't appreciate being singled out or threatened with booting.

There are good eggs and bad eggs. Don't let the bad ones ruin your fun.

That isn't typical behavior that you'll find from a veteran player. The person who did this to you was probably a relative noob or voob himself.

Pay them no mind and try to enjoy the game.

Mystic, I was in that game, saw the interactions. I do apologize for any bad experiences. Pod pickups are expected (especially by the squadded players). I experienced this myself. Don't let it get to you. If you miss it, just apologize for it, and hope they move on. You handled the situation well, though.

*quick check of his chat logs to make sure he hasn't insulted mystic ... nope, I haven't*

In the heat of the game, so much can depend on a single person's performance (or lack thereof), people's frustrations start to wear thin. Even I'll say some harsh things now and then without taking into account the player's experience level. It happens. Get better at the game, it'll happen less.

Keep in mind that after the game, no one will remember what you happened -- unless you make a big deal of it. Don't take it too personal. There's a lot of people that are eager to help, I'm sure you'll find them. Even cold mean angry ones are big cuddly carebears underneath it all. (ESPECIALLY Brood). Join Cadet, it's a great program where volunteers run a program designed just for helping new players learn the game. If you get booted, don't worry, you can sign in under a different nickname (you get 3) and you will be able to re-enter the game.

Mystic feel free to ask me anytime what needs to be done or not if u see me in game.

Usually esp. in bigger games Command has too much work to do - to give every pilot waypoints. Hell quite often the commander doenst even need to say something because the plan is so obviosly clear (but u need game - awarness for that).

Keep the chat´s commands in mind and read them.

2 more hints:
- If u know how to probe or u doing it anyway

u could inform ur command: I go probing sector x/y. If commands find that a good idea he will say thx - if he needs u elsewere he might say - no, D con or miner. or whatever.

- Picking pods is sometimes critical to avoid counter bombing from enemy. If u want to pick a pod - usually simply slow down if u get near the pod. Nothing more "stupid" than bypassing a pod with 190 due to the turning time. Just slow down if u have the time and grab the pod easy. Sometimes the best is to just have a speed of 0 to pick up much pods.
