But can you run a server on both the normal network on ipv4 and the rented ipv6 network and have it seamlessly work from the alleg lobby with whatever connection method people are using?

IMO this is the only this will work AND it will work if it is done like this.Badp wrote:QUOTE (Badp @ Apr 25 2009, 09:18 PM) But can you run a server on both the normal network on ipv4 and the rented ipv6 network and have it seamlessly work from the alleg lobby with whatever connection method people are using?

That's the whole point people ! Yes, you can run a server on both ipv4 and ipv6, they won't interfere with each other, those who don't care will still be able to connect with ipv4 and those who want to eliminate lag will use ipv6. All i'm saying is that in addition to ipv4 address, servers should have ipv6 address, it's really easy to accomplish....Badp wrote:QUOTE (Badp @ Apr 25 2009, 08:18 PM) But can you run a server on both the normal network on ipv4 and the rented ipv6 network and have it seamlessly work from the alleg lobby with whatever connection method people are using?

The nice part is that, the ipv6 network is FREE ! yes, it doesn't cost anything, it's an effort to spread ipv6 adoption and it's going to work wonders (lag related) for the next 3 to 5 years at the very least... So, why not to use the advantage and create a less laggy environment for everybody ?
it's easy ! it just takes a few command line strokes and it's done ffs.... seriously
i can even provide a machine for just those tests.... lets get it done

Any allegations to badp trolling have been permanently discredited, he askes the right questions, he gets answers.

exactly my point ! no change to anything ! it won't make ipv4 connections worse, but it'll make people who experience lag, quit having this lag.... it's just another setting in ip config with wintel machines.... those who connect to server with ipv4 will be able to play nicely with those who choose to connect with ipv6.... that's the campaign ! let's get it done !SP4WN wrote:QUOTE (SP4WN @ Apr 25 2009, 11:04 PM) If its not going to interfere with current networking then it wont really hurt anyone.
i offer humbly my datacenter resources for this "project", tell me what you need and you shell get it.
