Failed To Connect to Server
Assess your router (using the router's IP address in a browser). If you don't know your router's IP then open a command prompt and type ipconfig then hit enter. Your router IP should be the Default Gateway. Go to firewall settings, you should be able to open ports there. Hope this helps.Valiance wrote:QUOTE (Valiance @ Apr 12 2009, 02:27 PM) Could someone describe how to open the ports or whatever please, im not a very technical person, and im trying to get people playing via youtube, and most have this problem

Following advice here and in similar topics, I've replaced my Avast AV with Avira (uninstall, reboot, install Avira). I set up two Special AP enties to pass info through the router to Alleg, both opening port range 2300-2400, one with incoming port 47624, the other with incoming 6073 (not sure if necessary, but worked for me - will experiment more later).
After all this, I was able to access the game server - at least the Newbie server. There are still some issue - if I conect to the game server, then exit and try to reconect, I get the 'Failed to conect...' message, and sometimes I get an error connecting to the free games lobby, but at least I am in sometimes and can now (hopefully) practice, and take the Cadet I training.
Settling in for some light reading on the wiki with some comfort food.
Thanks for all the help, and kudos to all who have maintained what appears to be the best game I never heard of till recently, and also apparently the best support group I've come across!!
