It's most likely McAfee. It's firewall components do not really disable after you tell them to and still block some networking protocols required by Allegiance's net code. Try removing it (shouldn't be a peoblem, since you have Avira installed also) and see what happens. Avira alone shouldn' be causing any troubles.

Okay, I think I'll try checking its report logs and changing its blocking rules accordingly instead for the time being to see if it will let me through. If it doesn't work; I'll uninstall McAfee as a last resort. I mean, Avira is nice and all and it does catch what McAfee doesn't, but then again, McAfee tends to catch what Avira doesn't as well. Thanks for the heads up though. I appreciate the quick response. ^_^
I admit that I'm a noob to the game, but protocols and networks and the like are normally my specialty. It's just strange that it will allow me to see the servers and games and everything but not let me join them nor show that anyone else is on them. I'll keep at it though; I'm really wanting to see what this game holds in cargo/store for me. ;-)

By all means do try and fiddle with McAfee, but be sure to post here, if you do find a solution.
Here's a tip: the most probable reason for Alleg not wirking is McAfee's (just Norton and some other AV suites) firewall component is blocking SSDP broadcasts even in it's 'disabled' state. Configurating those rules for Norton is supposed to be possible, however noone has succeeded in finding out how exactly...
The only solutions that allow keeping McAfee or the such on your system and being able to play Alleg involve killing AV's resident services or not installing the firewall components at all.

Good luck :)

I have officially determined that McAfee is not the problem. After much fiddling and more tinkering; I finally uninstalled it. At which point I found that the problem remained. I still see all of the games and servers, but they all show up as empty and I can't connect to a single one.
Any more ideas? I mean, what would cause it to be half-there like that?

Does McAfee need a purging program? I know Symantec provides a program that will purge the presence of Symantec's programs. Maybe the same applies to McAfee? I'm thinking here that the Windows Uninstaller (or McAfee's standard uninstall) doesn't completely get rid of everything. So you end up with some snipet of code that still gets loaded and that is the culprit.

You did reboot after you uninstalled, right?

I had this problem with Avast a few months back. Changing to AVG solved it. Now I have just had it again and changing to Avira fixed that. I might be running out of free AV programs that are compatible with Alleg

I am running Vista Business BTW - never had problems on XP.
