Hi, my name is Jacmert, and I'm a newbie too :D

Actually, I've never played the game before, though I'm reading the Cadet I materials right now. Hopefully I'll get into the Cadet I program and take a strong liking to the actual game :)

The strong teamplay aspect is what's attracting me to Allegiance, along with the price point.

Since your reading the CDT I materials, you will probably know this already, but remember that dogfighting does not win games, and do other stuff like probeing and naning.

Have fun playing. :)

Eragon, this isn't the first time we've seen some dude, following the Gods of some linux distro come here and make ambitious claims and throw around big numbers. Of the n times we've seen this, 0 have actually done anything to get Allegiance ported to linux. Our devteam is entirely voluntary and part time and currently don't have the resources to do it. If you can, and keep the cheaters out, more power to you. Otherwise, I recommend you either play what we have or GTFO.

We know the domain was expired - it was fixed a good while ago. DNS records take time to propagate. What do you think we are? Idiots? We didn't keep this thing running for 7 years being idiots. Stop preaching your whatever. We've seen it plenty of times over.

Not to mention that the Alleg client is only half of the system. Numerous vital services are provided by ASGS, the lobby and the game servers themselves. Sure you could port the client to *nix, but you'd still be without registered accounts, rules enforcement, ranks, stats, a lobby, servers... the list goes on. :)

Hey, if the Ubuntu crew want to get involved, that would be swell. Allegiance deserves to be cross platform.

Don't be harsh on the guy for his enthusiasm please.

Like I said in my original post, if he does something with the code, great. But coming here and asking us to do it or bragging about the number of users in his forum does nothing. Show me a complete port with a running lobby, servers and security and I'll be impressed. Until then, it's just words and vaporware.
