It's back there a few pages.

You build the Techbase - Pick a rock to build it on.
You can now research Light figs under the 'sup' tab, lt ints under the 'exp' tab, and lt stealths under the 'tac' tab.
Research one of them, and you can now research the level 2 basic weapon, one piece of equipment, and the enh level.
Research the enh level, and you get the rest of the basic-techbase level tech, and the ability to build the adv techbase.

Build the adv techbase, and you can now research the adv level ship.
Research that, and you get the rest of the Adv techbase-level tech.

So, as an example, it goes like this:
Lt Fighter - Allows Gat2, EWS Probe 2, and Enh Fig
Enh Fig - Allows Boost 2, AB 2, Dis2, Dumb2, AC2, Minepack 1, Level 1 Sup GAs, and the Advanced Techbase.
Adv Techbase (along with enh fig) allows Advanced Figther
Adv Fig - Allows Boost 3, Gat3, Dumb3, AB 3, Dis 3, Galv (And subsequently, Heavy Galv), EWS 3, AC3, Minepack 2, Level 2 Sup GAs, TP2, and Figbombers

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I was getting the idea that you were going to allow access to all lvl 1 GAs with just one base.
In difficult ground, press on
In encircled ground, devise stratagems
In death ground, fight.

That would be tantamount to a 'Win button'

Alright, so I want/need inputs from people

The Faction X miners are going to have to be really big in order to be carriers for everything. There are a few options that I would like you guys to choose from. Bear in mind, though, that whatever size the miner is is what size the Carrier will be as well

Option 1: Leave the miners as 'large' miners but not giant. This will allow scouts and interceptors to dock but fighters, stealths and bombers, due to their size will not be able to dock. This would put the miner at about 175 meters in length.
Option 2: Remove the 'Carrier' part of the miner and make it simply a large, regular miner. This would put the miner at about 125 meters in lenght.
Option 3: Enlarge the miner until all ship types (Bomber, Stealths, fighters, Ints, scouts) can dock. This would put the miner at around the 350 meter length mark

Option 4: Make is so big that scouts, ints, figs and sfs can dock (=all small ships), but no BBrs

Or are sfs and figs big as bbrs? Because then it will get ugly. You could spray the dark/about the direction where his shots come from vs a sf and could kill it.

This will still look very odd (Imagine 4 miners mining a sector), but it will at least not limit you to exp for excellent miner d. And it will harden Miner-bombing a bit.

Why are ints that much smaller than figs and sfs?

Well, bombers can dock at somewhere around the 200-250 meter mark, as can figs. Ints/Scouts dock at about the 150-175 meter mark. Stealths, because of their wingspan, dock at somewhere around the 325-350 meter mark.

I could make it everything BUT stealths (Which I am inclined to do), and that isn't too much of a hit to Miner Defense as Stealths are one of the things that are the LEAST used for miner D. And with X's techpaths, you can still get light fighters/light interceptors for Miner D even if you are Tac

I have also discovered that an Op/Ref can be made if the miners have the "Cap Ship" flag. While this means that the Garrison starts with the SY dock, and that Techbases will have to have the ability for a cap ship to dock (Although you won't be able to launch from one unless you landed in one), it does allow for the Op/Ref to be done. And besides, the Miner/Carrier is big enough that it should be a cap ship

Starting with a SY dock isn't an issue at all. They can't teleport between, so it just gives a couple more places for a capship (which isn't used that often anyways) to dock.

I say do that, and if in testing it makes the SY too powerful, we'll find out quickly won't we?

I think the idea of miner-carriers is too awesome not to be tried to its fullest. So, make them big enough for all small ships to be able to dock. ^_^ Just to see what it's like!

Pilotable miners isn't a good idea.

And I'm going to weep if you make a faction with tougher bases than IC..

God, do I have to say this AGAIN?

It isn't 'Pilotable Miners.' The miners are also carriers, so the pilotable 'version' is simply their version of a carrier
