the conversion script wasn't perfect... you should be able to fix your signature in your control panel.
As for avatars... as I noted in my evil lair:

Fixed my avatar, but my sig is still messed up. I've tried deleting everything, submitting that nothing, then retyping my sig, then submitting. It's still got that huge gap.
