We like to call them pitstops.

Different bases can be different turns and corners, just build a couple of these bases on the asteroids in a sector and use probe hoops to link things up and you have an easy to set up race track.

that is a good idea, It is now in our pool of thoughts. It's similar to what we have proposed also. Keep the ideas coming man, we are really trying to make this happen.

hey, how can we get a hold of this? This sounds like exaclty what we need for a blueprint.

Here is how I would do tracks.

Start of with a simple drawing.

Then add in sector dots.

Transfer it to AME.

And then design the sector based on what it is.

For example a long straight or a turn, with asteroids to navigate.

About moving asteroids and rotation:

KGJV(Or was it orion?) once created an interesting asteroid. An asteroid rotate from its central point. What he did was making a huge asteroid(in theory) with a tiny model on the side far on the side(The actual "asteroid" was far from the center of the model). The result was that the asteroid orbited the center of its model instead of just rotating.

Btw, rotation is fixed by the map I think. I never used AME(I used the old AGM), so I don't know if it's still possible, but any object placed on a map can have its rotation set manually(yes, even bases and alephs).

1 thing you could do that could be fun would be to create a rotating exit aleph and making several forward aleph in the sector, which would make people go in different directions.

As for map type, I really prefer alephs to alephs over a course in 1 sector. One of the advantage is that it's much easier to make sure no one cheats(even if not on purpose). You can get a bit off the boundary of a track, but you can't cheat on an aleph. Also, in a very close race, it's easier to see who came 1st in a sector than seeing who managed to cross a "line". if you use someone on the other team to decide who wins, the scanners will automatically target the 1st one who joins up. Also, I liked a bigger map with 1 lap, it was much easier to keep track of who was 1st.

Another thing: Allegiance can handle high speed decently(500 mps), but high acceleration is ugly. I'd suggest making an average ship go at about 400-500 mps, but it should take some time to reach that speed in order to minimize lag.

Theme: In my original map, I tried to add special stuff and I'd likle to see new ones.

Examples of what I did:

-Optional alephs: There were sometime 2 alephs leading to the same sector. One was sometime closer but had many asteroids on the way while the other was farther, but the way was clear.

-Junkyard: Asteroids were replaced by ship models

-Mr B. Rock: A giant asteroid. I'd like to see him back, but I got an interesting idea: put a big hole into it and alephs on both sides. Racing inside an asteroid could be fun. Even more interesting would be a forcing people to turn while they are in the asteroid.

New ideas:

what about a maze? have like 10 or 20 different alephs in one sector.... then they lead to another.... could we randomnly generate this stuff????
heh that wud be awsome..

A maze would be interesting, but it cannot be randomized since it would have to be from a model. I don't think making a maze model would be worth the short fun(Once you figured it out, it becoems pointless).

The only randomization I could see would be Orbiting alephs. I'm not sure if they are possible(easily) like rocks, but it could be fun.

I thought it would be cool to do the asteroid thing with the tunnel through it with corners and beams at varying heights across the tunnel so you have to dodge up and down.

I also though about fan blades.

have a large flat box, with say three holes through it near the middle. on the other side there is a blade shaped like this: /\ with the point centred in the middle of the flat box.

as the blade rotates it will cover two of the holes at a time so you have to work out which won't get covered and fly through that one.
