A friend of mine is looking for a good Joystick to play Allegiance with (under the Saitek x52 price range).

This one looks and feels pretty good to me (I got to handle one in a store), but I'd like to hear from people who have one.

I have a joystick a lot like the one your asking about (Its also from Logitech). Its pretty good exept that its made for both left and right hands. That means no matter if you are a lefty or a righty, you won't reach half the buttons. /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" /> The base and the stick itself is good though. Since the joystick your talking about is clearly for those who use their right hand to shoot, you won't have my problem.

I should also warn you that I'm not the most experienced person regarding joysticks. If someone else says its bad, odds are they're right and im wrong.

Weedman broke mine.

Drizzo used to fly with one of those?

Now I kind of want it for myself /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I bought one, and the functionality of it is great. I loved playing with it, mainly because I could fly around in F3 with it (lame reason, but I enjoyed it!). The ONLY problem I had with it was the hat keys: they don't function individually, as Alleg reads each direction as a single key. I know there's a fix to it, but until I can figure it out (and find a low enough surface to not get carpal tunnel, the stick is about a foot high from the base) then I'm not gonna play with it.

Besides, I've already learned how to kill Driz (when he's distracted) w/ my mouse. That's a skill I'd not want to re-train anytime soon.

Thanks again for the info. Sounds good to me.

The hat-as-buttons problem has so far plagued all sticks I've played with. Maybe Saitek's software will let me program the diagonals as top+left, and so forth. It's a price one has to pay for driving stick...

Many of us use it... I've noticed that there's two different models. One has a cheap plastic base, and the one I use has a heavy metal base. Your friend will want the metal one.

I have 2 of these sticks.. same make and model as shown.. 1st one I blew out the rt rudder, mostly from flying air warrior (online), wing commander and finally alleg. My new same stick is all alleg.

edit note.: this stick, even with the heavy base, still only cost me 18 usd and that included the shipping, so don't get ripped off.
