Dear Community Core Minions,
TAKE HEED OF MY FOLLOWING WISE WORDS!!!
Don't turn this core into a vanilla "everything is kinda the same" core! Don't create something that simply pleases everybody on paper... create something that ENTERTAINS everybody in the game.
Keep things different. Keep things interesting. Don't be afraid to really differentiate one faction from another, or one tech tree from another, or even one individual tech from another. Don't be afraid to make things powerful or to make things weak. As long as every faction has powerful tech as well as weak tech, things will stay balanced. Fun does not come from keeping things the same. Fun comes from keeping things varied. As they say, variety is the spice of life. The same goes for Alleg!
PLEASE keep this in mind as you guys try to create a democratic core. I can see how a core created democratically will be full of compromises and general boringness, as everybody will disagree on everything and nobody will agree on anything. The result will be a generic, cookie cutter core that generates boring, predictable games. Don't make it so every faction is the same, or that all 3 tech paths are omni-useful... make things different, and balance as you go.
Don't be afraid to take chances!
Aarm -- don't be afraid to make executive decisions! I'm sure you have a good idea of how to do all of this, and I'm not trying to tell you how to go about your shiny new job... I'm just urging you to at least consider overruling something popular in favor of creating a more entertaining core.
Good luck guys, and take chances!!
Love,
TEH Bacon

I am sooo not saying to make it "crazy." I'm saying to make it fun! I am DEFINITELY not saying to use BaconCore as a starting off point, rofl.
Just don't create something that nobody will want to play because it consists of 6 copies of the same faction with different ship models.

tltr: have no fears bacon, nothing indicates that this will be a democratic core, serb's goats would be able to come up with better polls/thread input as compared to the forum trolling that is taking place
I agree with bacon but given how things are going so far and the people on the bus there is no indication so far that things might go this way.
First of all, this won't be a democratic core. All these forum threads that pop up everywhere, with polls and silly discussions (see how the exp problem thread has deteriorated), are probably being rightfuly ignored. Apart from some good input by vets - who usualy resolve to one, two line posts - these threads are the quintessence of forum trolling, where voobies suggest something based on misconceptions about how things work atm, someone tells them the permises of their resoning are wrong, and so on. It seems like Apoch is the PR department of CC trying to explain to people how stupid their reasoning is, but if some dumb $#@!s cannot understand the idea of small, incremental changes coupled with often releases, then no amount of explaining will help. There has been a tendency by padmeoples to treat these polls and threats to extert some influence over the CC, but this also seems to have been a phailed attempts.
Vets have been simply crowded out of these threads by the sheer amount of voobs posting and the propensity of Grim to share his words of questionable wisdom.
So yeah, thankfully this is just forum trolling and nothing serious, no worries there Bacon. That the reasonable people dealing with CC are probably skimming through, but rightfully ignoring.
And I can hardly think of a better person to run the show then Aarm. Also, I do not know Aarm very well, but he doesn't seem like a guy that would have trouble going against the flow, so once again, no problems there.
Looking forward to the first edition of the CC and the changelog,
DW
