Got a new idea, the boot button instead of booting a pilot sticks them in a 1mps top speed pod. Maybe then they'd get the message.

-Trigger- wrote:QUOTE (-Trigger- @ Apr 8 2008, 05:02 PM) A problem with using wings for specific tasks in PUGs is that you don't want to limit some of your players to one task. You only have some many Vets who know what they are doing and need to be jacks of all trades.
Even 'Nooblet, Nooblington, Hopeless_Voob, Circle_Flyer, get in Spam Wing with Captain Vet' would be an improvement in many cases; a modicum of 'Follow me, we're hunting miners' 'D constructor, that means us' would increase the usefulness of the less skilled players taking the lead of the vet.

Worse case scenario, his pod gets picked up faster.

Fine. You want to make Wings more useful? Download Autohotkey and run this script:

#IfWinActive Allegiance
switcher = 0

rctrl::
SendInput {Enter}All{Tab}{Tab}
switcher = 1
return

Enter::
IfEqual, Switcher, 1
{SendInput {Enter}{Enter}All{Tab}{Tab}{Tab}{Tab}{Enter}
Switcher = 0
}
Else
{SendInput {Enter}
}
return

Esc::
IfEqual, Switcher, 1
{SendInput {Esc}{Enter}All{Tab}{Tab}{Tab}{Tab}{Enter}
Switcher = 0
}
Else
{SendInput {Esc}
}
return

Now stop yapping.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

At least they'd be more effective. /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doh:" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />

Some of us have been arguing for ages to have separate cores for different team sizes, it's the only thing that makes sense /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> You will never have an Alleg core that can handle team sizes between 5 and 50, it's just not possible balance wise. So essentially we need 3 different size cores and a GC setting that allows a bit more finetuning in the rank accept department.
If 1 server is full with a max 10vs10 game just go the next server and start a new game or join the one in progress on a different server.

PS: and yes you would also need a minimum number of players to start such a game. This would also solve post game start stacking : if you need at least 2/3 of the max players to be on the teams before you can start a game then you would limit the ability of pilots for post game start stacking, after they have been forced to change servers because both teams are full they might want to join before they game starts and not wait for a stack to form before they make up their mind /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Check Dev forums. IB is already proposing a Late Night core based on DN.
