That is awesome.
Don't ban people for using it, it is technically a feature. Fix the core if it is not intended to be used like that.

Wow, and I thought observers were useless. Creative thinking, someone has too much free time to figure this out.
The observer can only carry something lightweight or the pilot will be dead before arrival. It's only useful in certain situations, like heavy camped sectors, and there must be at least one "real" ship inside that sector. That real ship must have a low signature, or it will be detected by the enemy. Also an aleph minefield will quickly destroy the observer. A team that is so good in defending all alephs in a sector would probably spotted that waiting low signature ship before the observer arrived with it's cargo.
I seriously doubt that this would even work in a squadgame.
But I agree, it has something sneeky.

In all honesty, at the time it was suggested, it struck me as creative and interesting, especially as a way to crack a really annoying turtle. Upon reflection, I thought it was really cheap and I wouldn't repeat it. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to call it a cheat or an abuse, since observers are clearly a ship either side can purchase and fly, and either side could have used it. But I can also see that this was not the intent behind observers and seeing as they would be nearly impossible to spot I think this is an unfair tactic. I also think Noir should remove their capability to carry any cargo, if that is possible.

Observers don't work as intended anyway.
I was hoping I could fly about in one when I observed a PK vs XT game during cadet, but I was quickly told not to launch from base even in an observer. I can't imagine what purpose the observer is supposed to serve at the moment.

Observers have no scan range.quackdamnyou wrote:QUOTE (quackdamnyou @ Mar 31 2008, 04:46 AM) BTW, you can't just buy it for the observer, you have to pick it. Observers have zero sig, and 1% scan.
Edit: Also you can buy it for the observer by going to "Parts for other ships".
