Keep faith, Monk. It sucks to be diagnosed "ill", and it may put you in an emotional rollercoaster.

The vast majority of people with Crohn's disease have a normal working career and raise a family (if they want to). It is common to have remissions every few years, between those years they are (almost) free of symptoms. There are a few interesting theories what causes Crohn's, and it could very well lead to better treatments or - hopefully - a cure. In the mean time there is good medication that can "soften" the symptoms.

Collect as much information as you can. Talk to specialized doctors, and don't forget the specialized nurses. It might be a good idea to contact a patients group, or an organization like the NDDIC.

Good luck.
