There were many good guys on the FZ. The reason why AZ was so much better to play on than FZ was more for the lack of bad players(Gerald4 was the exception, but we learned to love him) than for how many great players there were.
I'm not sure the old guys would still play as well as they used to. 5 or 6 years of rust can really hurt someone's skill.

I agree with the old farts, the team from the past would likely win. They had a much more competitive enviroment with a much larger quantity of skilled players to hone their skills against. Someone like myself isn't likely to get that much better by beating up on voobs over and over, and the amount of players around that play regularly at the top level is pretty minimal.
At least if you brought them with a time machine out of the peak they would beat us, if they all came back now I think they would get curb stomped because they would have to use the same training grounds as we have.

I never considered you when I typed it, I think you would have been seen as a good player whichever era you played in. No offence meant.TheBored wrote:QUOTE (TheBored @ Mar 15 2008, 06:23 PM) By posting my opinion I'm looking for praise? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> I think you're looking into this a bit too much /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I'll give Aarm a cookie, he rocks.
But come on, AZ vs FZ back in the day? Are you guys seriously debating that?
You know what the stuck up snobs on the AZ (that would be me) used to say about "slumming" in the FZ? We used to call it being in god mode. And that alone should tell you how long ago that was /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
I used to go play on the FZ for kicks about one or two days out of the week during primetime. You can probably count how many times I was podded using the fingers on one hand.

People were playing much more seriously on the AZ. Being a newbie wasn't an excuse for being clueless or a bad player. Actually, having a good reputation saved you from more boots than being a newbie. PU games were very competitive. Unfortunately, the lack of newbie retention ended up hurting the whole game.
FZ was closer to today's PU games. If you just wanted to fly, kill a bunch of miners/bombers and didn't really care about winning or losing, you wouldn't get booted and everyone would tell you good job for having 3x more kills than everyone else. Teams were like: 2 or 3 "heroes" and 10 critters. so in a team of 13, you just had to actually fight 2 or 3 guys(But you ended up knowing who they were, even with no ranks).
I'd really like to see all the old AZ guys.

AZ pilots absolutely spanked FZ every single time when I was still playing AZ, up till around late October 2000. No game was even close. Hell, BV would probably ban the AZ pilots for "picking" on the noobs it was so stacked.
As mentioned, there is no doubt at all back in the day..the FZ was for jock strap cleansing. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I'll need to see a roster listing from that game before I concede defeat on that /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Are we talking back in the AZ days? Or post-AZ days?Technical Wonder wrote:QUOTE (Technical Wonder @ Mar 15 2008, 09:42 PM) Eh, I remember one FZ vs. AZ game.. FZ won (after about 4 hours)
