When we are new at the game, the current vets seem like gods. Because those players were never seen after M$ dropped the game, the feelings towards those players never diminished.
All the people I've seen listed here so far are the top ranked players (skill wise) and are the old "vets"

I think old vets would win...handily too
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

New vet would have the skills he does TODAY, old vet would have the skills he had back in the F/AZ.
They'd play for the new vets team as well /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

If a player can be on one team only, why the $#@! are we discussing this? Old vets hands down.

The whore mentality was not as prevelant back then. I think there was a better team/squad organization in game then now, vs a pickup squad of vets. This has been argued many times but the old true vets/squads would win in my opinion.

Why don't we stick to a pure topic like Old AZ versus old FZ.

That one never gets old. Especially when the old FZ guys come in and claim superiority LOL!

On topic, you really can't do this contest. The best of the new squads were the best or were part of the old AZ squads. So take out the core players of the new squads who were part of said old squads and see who you have left. Is it still a fair contest or would it just be a joke?

This topic is for old-timers only. Many A noteworthy proportion of today's "Best Vets" begun playing after M$ dropped it, and hence have no idea if they're better than the old "Best Vets". If you want to even start comparing them, you first need to draw up a list of today's "All Stars", pick a team from them, then consider that in relation to your time-tinted, skill-biased memory of the old squads.

Are the best players today better than the best players of yesteryear? I'm gonna go with "Yes". BV says the Whore mentality wasn't prevalent way back when, which implies to me that strategies weren't based around a strong offence. With today's players having strong offence down to an artform, I think'd they'd blow any opponents, that aren't used to such dogged hostility, straight out of the water.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

You're missing the form element. Doing anything regularly hones your skill, that's why I am known internationally as the king of the boudoir bandits. When it comes to Allegiance however I play at nowhere near the same level that I did three or four or seven years ago, because I hardly ever play. Its comparing apples with oranges. How can you compare Ahan of 2001 to a current top whorerer, their whorish abilities aren't being compared at their respective peaks. Or Grey_Slayer or NakPPI of yesteryear with the latest hot poop comm? Can't be done.

No disrespect, but Crono & TB have never seen most of todays comfort zone, now occasional players at their peak. They have nothing to prove, and don't look to the community for approval, they play for a little fun. If you are still hoping someone will notice you and single you out for some kind of praise then you haven't achieved a zen level of vetishness. You are still on some level a newbie.

It's slightly laughable that anyone would think that the people playing Allegiance eight years ago were any more or less skilled than people playing today, it's all about practise and the amount of it that you do. It's a moot point. Reflexes haven't somehow evolved to any noticeable degree in the last eight years, neither have the gotten any worse.

Redundant argument.

P.S. AZ still kicks the FZ's silky pink pantie clad arse. /ninja.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ninja:" border="0" alt="ninja.gif" />

Think of it like this.

A time machine pops up and we send in our best against a at-their-prime Jihaad in an SG.

Assuming a neutral core, who wins?
It depends... which team has Ditka as commander?

Maybe rephrase it, BETA players/AZ who used to play 40 + hours a week. (Think guys like Darth, etc...)

So we already have Aarm and I on the same team for the FZ.

Sounds like we have already achieved victory if you ask me /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
