Aye, They are quite nice turrets /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Easy to take out several figs with one turret, nice for quick DP /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
Mind you, the only true laser weapons are hardly used at all, as almost noone uses nix... Thankfully /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
Laser type weapon graphics
Probably the only way to get past the "garden hose" effect is to use a long thin model on the order of the weapon's range. But then you run into more visibility problems as the entire column will disappear a split second after it leaves the barrel because the front end has hit your target.

Sprites at beginning & end of laser bolt + axial sprite at center + post process glow = nice looking laser;)

what happens if you add one (or more) of the lights to the model that the laser shoots.Technical Wonder wrote:QUOTE (Technical Wonder @ Jan 29 2008, 12:37 AM) Requires code change:

if you get the light to turn on at time 0 (after spawning) it should stay on for the time the particle is alive (as the lifetime of the laser is very short).
that should add some glow, may need a few of them on the model
I'll give it a shot.madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Jan 29 2008, 08:17 AM) what happens if you add one (or more) of the lights to the model that the laser shoots.

no, regular guns can shoot models instead of sprites from the same joints. It is an option in ICE and is what Phoenix lasers do (longtoms used to do as well).
<edit> The strobes on the models do show up, I'm going to add some to the laser model and see what happens.
