I keep hearing about mouse use for turreting...
I turret with an "opened grip" on my sidewinder FFP. That way the motors don't try to center the stick at all, and I can be really precice and relaxed with it. A mouse would probably be more precice still, but with the joystick, I have the zoom control on the throttle control and the stick twist lets me spin the turret so I can track the target easily on the vertical plane.
I wonder if I should try this mouse turreting people keep talking about...

I use a Sidewinder FF Pro 2. It has a gigantic heavy base. I have terrible motor skills to when I try to fly with the mouse I often over aim and am not nearly as precise as with my joystick. Conversely, the FF2's resistance makes it extremely easy for someone like me with bad motor skills to precise aim because you must but more effort into moving it.

I *think* I bought it at Radio Shack... I just lucked out that they had the heavy base model at the time. On subsequent visits I've only ever seen the lighter plastic one. As for the price, I'm not really sure. I think I paid $40 for this one... I've seen the lighter one at a higher price. /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />blackrob wrote:QUOTE (blackrob @ Dec 12 2007, 10:11 PM) Where'd you get the heavy base one from? Does it cost more than the "plastic" kind? Thanks.
Sidewinder 3d Pro is the ultimate in joysticks for alleg... to bad it only works on my windows 98 computer. When it comes to dogfighting in ints there's no better joystick.
Got a logitech freedom 2.4... Got that at work, it's a decent joystick nice thing about it is that it has software that lets you override the joystick selections inside allegiance but only when using this joystick. The joystick itself is not as good for intfighting, excels at sf and any long range DFs. ($40 - $60 range online)
Then i got a thrustmaste flighstick X. One hell of a joystick once you get accustomed to the extra wrist stength needed to use it accurately. Not as programmable as the freedom, but it has enough buttons that you don't need a keyboard to play alleg with. TS + joystick + pedals + high def headphones = total alleg immersion. To bad i can't use this combo very often. ($30 online)
