I say that God exists, prove me wrong.

I say that I can do swallow all of the ACS material in one sitting, and pull on a large majority of it effectively ingame. Prove me wrong.

Now go shush, and stop speaking for everyone.
Edit: I dont really think that god exists. Prove he does. : P
Prove that he doesn't.....

The ACS material was available for a long time on the old forums, you just had to PM Shiz to get access to it. I actually saved most of it and read it to understand what I was doing. Then I would ask the idiots that were always on TS and learned from them. Theres nothing quite like learning to command with Mastametz, Vir and Ozzy all yelling at you to stop being an idiot and command properly.

ACS is there for a reason. And it's got it's standards for a reason. And guess what? They work for a reason.

And PS, BoG, if your such a genius please fix your sentence structure so it's readable. "I can do swallow" Is only acceptable if your talking about cock.

Vestigial remnant from edit.

I had a REALLY long post written, summarizing the reasons people have given for keeping it private, and poking holes in the logic they used, but when I was done, I realized no one would read it because it was like 4 pages long.

In the end, the only responses which have made ANY logical sense at all were Clay's and BV's.

And, in the end, since they are the gods of the ACS program, we'll all bow to their divine will. And maybe, occasionally, sacrifice someonething to them.
Hi,

You are free to go and create your very own commanding/newbie guide, make it public, even advertise it! It will be yours, you'll be free to do whatever you want with that. Now, CDT and ACS are a product of some quite a few years of dozens of people work. Just trust their judgement that the way those programs are run is the best available. Other solutions have been tested and, apparently, failed. Assuming that you know something better than people that have been doing this for a long time will not do you good (vide BoG).

P.S. The last line is probably the worst attempt to troll I've seen this week.

Love,
ogo

I can read all 7 Harry Potter books in 1 sitting
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

hockey1015 wrote:QUOTE (hockey1015 @ Dec 6 2007, 06:16 AM) As basically stated above, if you just give out the information, and NewbieComm(3) decides to spend 2 hours reading everything, and thinking he can be a great comm while REALLY only understanding 20% of what he just read... what good does that do?
We already have plenty of that. The hallmark of the obliviously incompetent personality is that it doesn't matter how much or how little material is out there for them to read -- they'll find some way to overestimate their own ability. The released material makes it crystal clear that no one will fly for you if they don't know you.

And we have a simple protocol to handle them. We tell them no, you can't comm, and they go away 99% of the time.

So let's stop worrying about them and start worrying about this all-too-common scenario: it's midnight PST, there's 15-20 people in the lobby, and none of the vets want to comm. We don't need an ultra-competative game, we just need someone who doesn't reek.

Or this scenario: I'm your average Joe Voob, but I lack the big picture so I have a bad time predicting what my own comm is going to do so I can be there -- let alone the other comm, where he's gonna send his cons, where his miners are likely to be. I don't even know what tech I should be picking up in the field, what helps the tech path my faction is likely to develop. I can say for myself that the already-published ACS information and limited comm experience has improved my understanding of this game tenfold.

Not everyone wants to join a squad. Not everyone has the ambition to work their way up spidey's list. Not everyone has the need to be seen comming on the main server during prime time. Not everyone has the time or inclination to commit to a several-month training program.

There's a fair number of old vets here that learned to comm before ACS was established. So I know ACS is not the sine qua non of learning how to command.
hockey1015 wrote:QUOTE (hockey1015 @ Dec 6 2007, 06:16 AM) Also, if the information was made public, and somebody were to ask one of those "stupid questions" on a public forum, they would be run out of this game faster than serbs goats run when they see spidey /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> When they are in the closed forum, NO QUESTION IS TOO DUMB TO ASK!!!
That seems like a community problem to me. I don't accept that the general forums are necessarily rude ... especially when it's some of the same people over in the closed forums being nice and polite and patient with even the dumbest questions.

already been suggested in this thread, and if it brings more commanding ability to this game, then it's a good thing, bar none. But I'm hardly the person to do it.
ogorass wrote:QUOTE (ogorass @ Dec 6 2007, 11:25 AM) Now, CDT and ACS are a product of some quite a few years of dozens of people work.
I said that already, so have others...
ogorass wrote:QUOTE (ogorass @ Dec 6 2007, 11:25 AM) Just trust their judgement that the way those programs are run is the best available.
Easy to say... after all, we don't have a choice. They run it, they do it, it's their show, they'll do it how they want. Refer to Clay's post if you're confused.
ogorass wrote:QUOTE (ogorass @ Dec 6 2007, 11:25 AM) Other solutions have been tested and, apparently, failed.
But not the solution that cash and I have suggested, or rather, if it has been tried, it hasn't been mentioned in this thread.

Never said, or even implied, that I knew more about comming than anyone. In fact, I'm the first to admit I know next to nothing about comming. Hence my interest in ACS. But you don't have to know about comm to be able to see logical flaws in an argument.
ogorass wrote:QUOTE (ogorass @ Dec 6 2007, 11:25 AM) P.S. The last line is probably the worst attempt to troll I've seen this week.
As I'm not really sure what trolling is, but I assume it's a synonym for "brown nosing" given the context, I'll just say this. When it comes to the ACS/CDT programs, their will is law. I'd say my statement gets that point across pretty clearly. If pointing out the obvious truth is trolling, well then, guilty as charged I guess.

I asked a question, and made a suggestion to the powers that be. If you'll read back, you'll see I even went so far as to say that BV and Clay saying "We like the way we do things, we're not going to change it." makes more logical sense than the other responses. After all, they're the ones who put in the work. I was going to point out why those other responses had flawed logic, but I didn't even bother, so... thanks for the input I guess.

Hoping to move off a topic that's clearly been aswered by the authorities in charge,

McB

LOL thats a funny analogy and its pretty true ; )
