I'm wondering if we can introduce some alternate AI routines for miners, switchable via right-click. I'm sure other people can come up with better ideas for routines than me, but here's a few to get you started
1) Standard - current AI rules in effect.
2) Stripmine - useful for late-game situations where you are scraping rocks. Like standard, but it will automatically mine any rock with at least 10 units of He3 on it, and only unload if it is full or there are no more rocks with >10 units of He3 in the sector.
3) Stay docked - Like current, but once miner docks, it won't launch again from base unless ordered.

offensive mining - ignore normal ai rules, takes orders.
defensive mining - run when eyed (possible?) or run when enemies are spotted (maybe some bit about closest major base so they don't 'run' 'forward'.

The buttons could be global or single depending on whihc is eazier to put into the game?

For global when you click on "auto build" off all tech cons that come out will immediatly dock again, if it is doable it could be made that the con does not come out at all, until someone orders it to do something,
For single the "auto build" button is only seen when you click on the con and the same thing would happen as above,
Miners
For global when you click on "auto mine" off all miners will immediatly dock and STAY DOCKED!, once again if it is doable it could be made that when a new miner is built it does not luanch until given an order to do something

I want to push this topic, to get the idea and development for a "miner dock (and stay there until I tell you otherwise!)"-command running again.
As a solution for UI-problems I suggest to use the pickup-command for miners/cons for the stay-docked command, because they don't use this command anyway and no UI-replacements must be made.

do not confuse the worlds,.. for the beginning of such implementation ... it should be more than enough to have the miner dock -- instead of creating non-connected rings (which again is harly possible in most games) ...
b) & c)
right-click based? you sure? how about some text-order'ment as well? and the specific icon on the roster for that ... like .. DO NOT TOUCH THE MINER -- oh wait it only can be touched by the investor/commander? or was the wing the commander can give out to pilots?
d)
correct the text-order as they should be -- or is it m missing something? (both possible)
