Here is what I did with my account at work to get past this, and the order I did things in.
1. I downloaded C++ redistribute.
2. Ran ASGS and did update for the first time. After update it gave me the static core invalid sig error. Said no to repair file.
3. Downloaded Net 1.1 Framework redistribute from this site. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyo...;displayLang=en
4. Ran ASGS again and got static core sig error again. This time I said yes, it downloaded some files, and proceded to load game.

I had it when I reinstalled, I just hit yes and it updated. I did not have to install C++ redist or .Net 1.1 as both had previously been installed.

Basically, what happens when you download a fresh Alleg install as of today is:

1) ASGS shows errors for several files, downloads them all and updates itself.
2) Updates the main EXE to R4.
3) AU does another round of updates.

What the first poster didn't do was install the VC++ runtimes. Now his install is updated, but the game is missing a pre-req.
