lol. DrS actually was a firm proponent of NOT commanding from the cockpit, as am I. I generally only leave base to defend miners, cons or bases. If I need to fly regularly, that usually means my team is $#@!ing retarded.

Really, no commander should be leaving base. I'm sure greyslayer's skill in an int was just so prodigious that it made it worth it for him, but I need myself to be that guaranteed miner nan, and to call drops, and to call for probes, even if i was capable of instantly memorizing every rock number that I could ever possibly want to use.

A comm in the base, is an ace in the hole.

However, i prefer to leave base on one or two occasions.
1) I need the entire team to bomb, and the only way to ensure is that I take the bbr and boot anyone not nanning me
2) I just bought a Battleship and am about to end the mother$#@!ing game.

night would sit on his miners in an int and run into base when he needed to order something around. he would also just assume that his team was competent enough to probe.

I love commanding from the front lines. For some people, having the commander lead the miner offensive, or having the commander blow up your op on a galv run is just a huge morale knock, because it's sending the message "Hey everything is running so well on the other team that their commander can get out of base and kill things while ours stays in base and yells at us for not defending even though we saw it coming!"

9 times out of 10 I'm usually with our opening con, sitting miners, taking 6 people with me to kill their miners, or, god forbid, probing, instead of sitting in base and waiting for something to get killed. Besides, I need to keep my kill/eject ratio up /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

hahaha, as i said, i saw him commanding from the cockpit, but it didn't look like he was used to do it: it was more like he didn't need to stay in base because the game was retarded /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Which is one of the most retarded places for a commander to be... You can't control your miners or cons and if your bomber run fails you run the risk of a nice long ride back to base, while your con AI decides the shortest way to build in the enemy back sector is through the enemy home.
