Friendly Reminder
Maybe common practice by you and other childish commanders. I've never booted anyone for proposing a resign. Never. Get over yourself. If you've done such a crappy job commanding the team, there is probably a reason people are trying to resign the game. Take responsibility and stop acting like a kid. Well unless of course, you are a kid, in which case, carry on.jgbaxter wrote:QUOTE (jgbaxter @ Oct 8 2007, 01:28 AM) Souv try not to be a complete fool and an ass, it's common practice and accepted conduct to reprimand people with a boot for posting a resign.

Souv there are appropriate times to boot for proposing resigns and there are times it is unnecessary. To act like one way is right and the other is wrong and to ignore the shades of gray is stupid... don't think you are better than others because you don't know how to utilize the boot button.
Example: Pickup game (this is important). You are adv exp, the other team is Adv Sup. You have htt runs setting up on their major bases that could easily win the game. The other team successfully tp2s your last expansion, but you have another one cooking and ready to plant in under 2 minutes and you will easily get it up in time to recover.
Here's what happens a large amount of the time "Expansion Complex Destroyed" followed by Voob 1: "OMG WE LOST GOOD $#@!ING JOB" --> #resign.
The emotional pickup team never presses f5 or f6 so they don't see your expansion con being rebuilt, they don't notice the 2 htts setup on their main bases, etc. What they see is the annoying Voob saying we lost, and they Emotionally press Y without thinking.
In this instance, you must BOOT and you must BOOT immediately so that your team sees that was an idiotic thing to do, then you need to explain why you booted quickly in order to make sure they vote no.
And predicting your response: Yes you need to boot, because you can't have the Voob demoralizing the team on chat while the vote is in the open.
I've seen it go both ways... without the boot and explanation, resign will pass a large portion of the time in a pickup game.

Souv...
If my team wants to resign they just need to pm me and if there's no hope then I'll resign. I don't want some voob spamming #resign because they keep dying while dogfighting a hvy int with thei sct and don't happen to see the tp2 drop that's set-up so it doesn't matter if we're down to 1 sector if we kill their only major base in the next 15 seconds.
Anyway, I don't think you want logic, you want to bitch in general, feel free just don't think that you speak for the majority. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
EDIT: I wanted to add that most teams in PUG's do not understand when to resign, for example, in a game our team just lost, our sup died we had (on hihigher) everything almost, teles everywhere except left, all they had was mid/hi/lo. I posted a resign, team wouldn't resign, they couldn't get it through their heads that our tf scts weren't going to deal well with the rix hvy ints and the fact they have their adv exp / garr / tac to our insane teles but only a starbase, 0 miners, and no hope of bombing them because our team wouldn't bomb together. In such a case the team wouldn't resign because they wanted to keep trying, and kudos to them for trying, however our garr was camped within 20 secs of our sup dying (shouldn't have died anyway), which is why I posted the resign after the sup died... no hope.

Yeah, sorry about that bax, i can't motivate a team to work together. I mean i had Starfire out there shooting TP's with an HTT by himself at one point, while i was out probing myself.
edit: i might need some boot stick lessons. It feels like every time i boot someone, i receive a complaint =P

You did pretty good that game, nice speed with getting hvy ints up, of course, had we been bombing like I was begging then that would have taken longer. Oh well, such is life. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Booting isn't a good thing, personally I have a quick temper and a forgiving soul, must be the Irish/British coming out. I know when not to boot, our of frustration or out of failure, people shouldn't get booted for trying to do the right thing, they should be booted when they don't listen or do things against the team... seriously, how many times does a person need to say "everyone nan the bbr so we can get adv tech, nan the bbr or boot" before you need to boot someone. If you let one person think, oh well, I guess I can hunt enemy miners in my enh ftr and let other people bomb, suddenly half the team isn't naning, say good buy to adv tech anytime soon.

There was this game where we fought tooth and nail with tac against tac and finally got enough cash for heavy scouts/heavy bombers. As that tech comes online, an organized SB run finally blows our tac (after like 25 mins of continuous mayhem). Random voob KonstantinDK who had only joined a few minutes later, proposes a resign. The comm, ogo, had gone to the restroom while this happened and couldn't boot him. Result - it passes. I fist slam my keyboard twice and cuss the $#@!er out. I still haven't forgiven him. All that effort defending our last miner and our tac, all lost because some random stupid artard proposes a resign without realizing the tac had served its purpose.

Hmm, while you have a right to be pissed, I would not say that it was "some random stupid retard...." the team has to vote yes for a resign to pass. But I am sure you are well aware of that and were just as pissed at the rest of the team.
