You ever been clearing for a bomber, and getting poed because the probe behind the aleph doesn't spot you, but spots the bomber?

It shouldn't do that if you fly with missiles and shields up, then fire your gun. That will increase your sig to > a bomber almost (if not) every time.

If you do that and get eye, you know there's a probe somewhere. Hunt it down.

Ahh... probes... how many in each sector should there be at the opening phase of a game? Cause scouts don't carry much /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

We don't teach the cadets to drop 500m behind alephs. We teach them to drop 800 - 900m from points of interest (alephs, bases, he3 rocks), and off the main corridors of travel.

But there are lots of vets and voobs that either don't know or don't care to probe properly.

Duong: Initially, minimum, you only need one probe for each aleph coming out of their home, if it's a good one. So for most maps, that's only 4 probes. More is better, but that's the minimum. Aside from that, probing the he3 rocks next to their home is job 2. Then probe up ops/tps as they get built, and scatter a few along travel corridors between their front line and yours.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP DROPPING PROBES LESS THAN TWO SECTORS FROM YOUR HOME WITH YOUR INITIAL RUN. (That's not for you specifically Duong)

Ahem... You always want to probe where threats are likely to come from, and work your way back to where they might go to. It's just like pushing cons, grab the forward territory first, and then fill in behind.
