Noobs with no number.

please. for the love of your god, join the cadet program. i am sure you will find it very very advantageous and informative... i am so so tired of v-noobs asking where then nans are when they are playing nix. it is depressing. let's learn about allegiance first please, then play with confidence and ability to actually help the team without having to have a class during an SB run; it is not convenient. thank you. join, join cadet now. join and be happy (and educated).

Does cadet teach them how to dodge dumbs or is that common sense? I have seen some that seem to actually try to catch dumbfires.

Anyways, isn't this a rant?

You know cadet is a very good thing but stop making it sound as if anyone who wishes to play this game has to go through it. Yes they can learn by playing, it will take them longer but maybe they don't care. Either be helpful and explain to them or just leave them alone.

We spend time - humongous amounts of time - so that this does not happen. Point them to cadet. I can count on my hand the number of non-old schoolers who have not done cadet and are competent.

The point is that the cadet program has raised the average skill level of a voob. It also has increased the expectations that people have from noobs/voobs. Before CDT, it was "Do I recognize that nick from FZ/AZ? No? No SB for you." Now it's "Did you do CDT? Yes? Here ya go."

Actually the very FIRST thing they should do is read the Crash Course. Cadet applicants are immediately pointed to it to read prior to Cadet.

This is why we are working on a short course (two weeksâ„¢) to get brand new players up and running with basics. It will run in a three week session, but with the material posted publicly on the Academy.

As a recent cadet graduate, i must admit, that cadet helped me a lot, really a lot. I still do make mistakes and sometimes very stupid ones (at least i don't mount shields on anything stealth anymore), but overall, cadet is a great way to start being at least moderately usefull to a team, that being said, i have seen a few people wearing @cdt tags, that were obviously not reading up on the materiel in the course. I'm also advertising and actively advocating cadet to every (#) i encounter and to every non-number, whom i've seen in a SF with shields mounted ;-)
