PLEASE..remove the voice chats from original install file and force people to DOWNLOAD them seperately...

its annoying to see/hear newbies (0, 1, 2, 3, 4) spam them constantly just to hear what they sound like, yet be in prime time or main server when they are doing it.

SO please, for R4, PLEASE REMOVE THE VOICE CHATS FROM THE INSTALL FILE...

I agree, most of the time sitting in the lobby, either waiting for a game to get done or waiting for one to start, theres always 1 lower # (as defi said, normally 0-4) that starts a vc spam. Then all the rest join in, making for an extremely annoying time waiting for the game. Im with Defi on this, remove vcs from the original install file.

Yeah, cause god knows this

is too difficult.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

The basic voice chats are an integral part of the game - removing them from the basic install would handicap newbies.

Here's a scenario - you're com and you've got a newbie (without VC pack) who's not donating. You issue the obligatory "start donating or I boot" warning, followed by the obligatory `yy. Without the VC pack, do you really expect a newbie to hear it? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Mute works for those times when an admin isn't on the server (almost non-existent on the main server during peak hours).

QUOTE The basic voice chats are an integral part of the game - removing them from the basic install would handicap newbies.[/quote] Ok, so keep the basic ones, such as "Donate to the investor." But do we really need people sitting in lobby spamming "What the hell are we supposed to use man, harsh language?!" or other vcs like that that barely EVER leave the lobby?

from my experience, newbies will spam ANY vc. It could be a VC saying "Hello, i'm stupidly spamming" and they would still use it

um...how many times do you see some comm saying the required things before they boot a person for not donating, then booting them? 90% of the time? 95%? etc? Sure, it is "better" with the voice chat of read the chat BUT it is also roughly the same because if a person bothers to actually READ THE BIG BOLD COMMANDER CHAT saying donate, then they would donate, but guess what, newbies think they know better thus they STILL don't listen and CONTINUE TO SPAM/do their newbie things.

Or heck, if they have to read HOW to install the voice chats, then heck, I'm sure we can also add in INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FREAKEN PLAY or WHAT NOT TO DO.

Mute works but seriously, a ban works better, a boot works better, but that is anti-newbish and drives them away with a ban/boot, thus just remove their ability to spam (voice chats that is) and it would be better!

I was/am working on a new default chatpack, trying to just include the needed vcs. We'll see how it goes.

Spamming noobies are annoying, however I don't like to mute them cause they might actually say something useful.

Would it be possible to limit the amount of voicechats a new player can use every minute? There should not be any need to use over 10 VCs per minute.

They will spam the voicechats when they will get grab of the "full" chatpack. You can defer spamming, not avoid it.
