Terralthra must REALLY be referring to the GARDEN SPOT of California --- BLYTHE!!!Terralthra wrote:QUOTE (Terralthra @ Jul 10 2007, 06:01 PM) I have already gladly left your practice-room-for-Hell.
Has anyone been to Blythe, California? If so, were you incarcerated there? If not, did your car break down?
I mean, wtf man -- that is past practice room man -- that is hell on earth.
For openers -- you know it might be a tough place to survive as you drive in from LA toward Phoenix. As you are acending through the desert up the mountain (or whatever it is you call it in the desert drving into Blythe) -- you see barrels of water left by the highway (it is the desert and if you overheat, you need water for your vehicle.
Good idea, except for the frekin KILLER BEES that swarm even one DROP of water in the desert. If your car overheats, you get to make the Faustian choice -- try to get water for the radiator and be STUNG TO DEATH, or just stay in the car with the windows rolled up (to keep the KILLER BEES out of the car) and hope to survive the 120 degree heat.
If you were thinking a bit, you decided to wait it out for nightfall. OK, so you lost 100 pounds in sweat, but at least you were not stung to death, right???
WRONG - because you have to worry about SCORPIONS, which like to hunt you down at night. Guess where they like to hang out in the desert? That's right -- right next to the big stinkin barrel of water.
Wisconsin does not sound too bad when compared to California, right? Besides, they have cheese and beer -- what more could you want in life.

Edited: Forgot to mention that Blythe is still hell on earth.

Notice I am sort of lurking in the corner here. Born and raised in Wisconsin. Spent 22 years in California. (San Diego county and Riverside County. Worked in Orange County) I moved back 6 years ago.

Always in the Shadows...
how that comment has anything to do with road condition is beyond me...Terralthra wrote:QUOTE (Terralthra @ Jul 11 2007, 07:21 AM) Gee, maybe the ones next to the ocean? It does tend to be full of salt. Also, there is sand nearby!
Secondly the whole "I-39, I-94, I-90 thing" I've stated already what that deal is.. I-94 and I-90 HAVE TO GO AROUND LAKE MICHIGAN.
and they merge with I-39 only briefly to head south for a bit. I-94 and I_90 split up again in Michigan.. Man those crazy road builders... what will they come out with next.
"OMGWTFZORS these freeways are all going the same direction.. how in gods name am I going to know where I'm going?!"
If you think the merging of freeways is confusing to you.. lord help you if you ever need to visit the city of Waukesha.
Glad you like cali. Good for you.
Be safe. Stay there. Otherwise us crazy beerswiling wisconsinites may getcha!
futher debate = none..

Actually, being close to the coast does affect road conditions a lot. Not only is there a lot of salt spray that flies up onto the roads, but when ever we get a big storm, parts Highway 1 invariably get swept away with the mudslides and has to rebuilt. There was one instance where an entire town got cut off because the road got washed out on both sidesCadridorn wrote:QUOTE (Cadridorn @ Jul 11 2007, 10:48 AM) how that comment has anything to do with road condition is beyond me...
