go for the eject as un-armed soldier one, except give them a light sidearm, quite a weak gun, and you can laugh at people who get killeld by it.
perhaps a knife as well (or instead of a knife, or perhaps just a knife? some form of weak weapon anyway). (along with the 5 min O2)

How about we make Quantus more Tribes like so that you can get infantry and you dont actually have to use vehicles, sometimes it would be better to use infantry like for stealthy techniques or going into small spaces, I mean we want there to be a variation of infantry weapons which will be used in base attacks as well so there would have to be an infantry equipment. Basically when a vehicle is destroyed the infantry unit pops out slightly (or majorly depending on the vehicle and method to kill said vehicle) damaged. The infantry unit can eject from said vehicle before the vehicle is destroyed to get less or not damaged but the infantry unit can also eject just to leave the vehicle and proceed on foot etc...

Also kill-bonus will work differently, I have two ideas for kb but that can be discussed later, basically when you destroy a vehicle depending on the vehicle the destroyer of said vehicle (caboose) will get a certain number of kb i.e. scout car will earn 2kb point, huge $#@!ing tank will earn 10kb points etc... and killing infantry will earn 1kb point. (points can be decided later)

So basically in this method when you spawn you can change your infantry set-up, you can then go to the vehicle bay and then get a vehicle set-up and launch, you can eject from your vehicle (and leave it alone for a long time and it will self-destruct) and use your infantry set-up, with infantry we could do a lot more, we could have laser-targeting or beacons so artillery type vehicles have a firing solution (which is also v. tribes like).

So in conclusion you dont get pods you just get infantry (die as an infantry lose your kb) that be my idea

Yes, this is exactly what I had in mind.

Maybe use TEs idea about the memory chip thingy, but instead of it being transfered back, it has rockets and it flies back to base or to another player.

I think the pod should be an escaping PoW, once 5 minutes is up you run outta energy and die of starvation.

I firmly believe that flying pods are a bad idea.

a) only a limited amount of people can PU them.

b) easier to shoot down (they have no cover)

c) in most of the current ideas the pod has no control of itself

d) realistically a flying pod would be imba because it would have to be pretty fast to fly.

I say, there should be 2 types of pods (partially based on TE's idea)

1st type : Vehicle pods, when a vehicle (air or ground) gets destroyed, a small lifepod is ejected (if in aircraft, it falls to the ground). The lifepod has a 5 minute battery to allow quick transit to a base or rescue point(beacon, whatever) so you can get another craft. If your lifepod is destroyed, you die, but you have the option to eject from it and become a 'pilot' class soldier, carrying only a pistol. Pilots do not have the 2nd type, due to it causing problems with the neural interface device pilots use for their crafts.

2nd type: Infantry pods. When an infantry unit dies, his consciousness is ejected from his body in a "preservation" pod. This little device contains a short battery, and the users data as well, so it must make it to a rescue point so it can be installed into a new body. In essence, its like ejecting your brain from your body, to preserve your knowledge and abilities (not necessarily robotic either). I can just imagine killing someone, and seeing a little spider looking 'pod' running away trying to preserve his kb. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
