Attempting to command a completely stacked game, both settings and pilot-wise.

I have probed many a red door.

Not so much a screw up as just funny, it was a DM and I was chasing someone on the other time (I think it was Saxy) who have very little hull left. He made it to the green door, I ended up ramming the garr. This happened three times in a row =\

Getting promoted to bomber pilot when I was a (3), panicing and ripping out. Then counter-blaming everyone else for expecting a (3) to know what the $#@! to do.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

and the moral of this thread...:

If you haven't screwed up, then you haven't been playing!

Let's see... mining an aleph with probes, probing a sector with mines.
Trying like hell to nan a nix bbr. (WTF... I know I was hitting it!) /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
Talking smack to a vet int whore early in game. (Lots of pod rides to follow)
Multiple times launching in wrong ship.
forgetting to STFU and play.

list goes on and on

lots of them for me:

1. commanding small server, got guardians up and i sit in one in base while team is bombing. A bomber jumped in at one of my op so i teleport to the station, clicking the blinking icon on the minimap. launched, only to relize I launched in the sector we are about to bomb from. It was flashing because enemy scout just came in and firing the bomber. The rest=20mps guardians back to base=op dies. We did manage to win though...
2. most common one when i was a newb: firing gat and nan at the same time in GT scout
3. PT bombers (before they cost money to buy), team is whoring with lightnings and I armed myself with AB's ready to do a bomb run. TP2 drop at our research and went to D with my AB. Result=commander yelling at me for wasting his money while firing AB's at bombers. Did manage to kill one though /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
4. rix rip scout, defending miner in a sector with only a ref. Miner under attack, I managed to fire my nan at a full hulled miner while enemy is eating away shields. Fighters try to rip in, no luck :( miner died
5. arm my GS with AC1 instead of skycap 2, all missles but no ammo for my gunner
6. SBing, 3k from enemy garr, all set up, no eye with no cloak and shield &missle down. start advancing to base, at 2500 armed my sig 3, no eye, 1800m armed missles, no eye, 1500m, I noticed i'm facing the red door. So close to base so i continued anyway. 1400m, fired first AB and still no eye. prepared to stop and fire from 1400m to finish off, pressed wrong key and throttle got fully on. Didn't relize until I am about 700m from green door, with eye. 4 AB launched and need 2-3 to finish base off. I trust backward while firing, preventing eye. 1100m lost eye, garr almost died. All though this i was right in front of the red door. Missle reloading, got an int boosting out of the red door. It didn't eye me until about 30m from ram, both of us died. Garr had about 2% hull left...

lots more...

i remember i was in a turret targeting and firing, when
the pilot swiched with me. bomber was almost within firing range of the base,
but i thought i was still in a turret. i was like why is this turret
taking forever to swing around.

Being a noob, the worst mistakes I've made are probably the ones I'll never know about.

Of the ones I do:Preventing the only miner we had from docking after taking heavy damageNot nan'ing on time, resulting in a miner blowing up (com got on me for that one :( )Bumping a bbr into an aleph before he was readyMore sure to come /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Sending 3 miners on attack from a middle sector on star away from defenders to a forward op (which I thought was away from the attackers), but getting all 3 miners killed because the defense couldn't catch up to them.
