Playing more is key, you can read the allegiance academy which is located at http://www.allegacademy.org/index.shtml

Cadet is a great way to learn different things.

Some vets are willing to play in special small games to teach certain aspects of the game (dogfighting etc)

welcome to the community! be wary of the small group of anti-newbie people, just ignore these people.

also get teamspeak. even if you dont have a mic, other people can talk to you when they are helping you. ask the right people and you will learn something that most will never understand. and if its about commanding, ask the people that are ruthless, such as comm's that boot within 5 seconds if you dont do something immediately /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

The most simple thing you can do is look at yourself after each game, what mistakes did you make? Are these mistakes common for you? If you need to ask how to stop making certain mistakes I'm pretty sure there are a couple people who will give you great advice as to how to avoid it, or you may just be smart enough to figure it out for yourself.

That sounds an awful lot like a musician talking. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Get TS, always log on when you play, and play like a madman and eventually you'll pick up a lot of the game. Also chatting about the game randomly on NOAT will sometimes give you insights into the more esoteric elements of the game (Rix vs IC ints, etc.) and visiting the core dev forums because those sometimes have random gameplay tips in them.

And of course, browsing the gameplay forum for gameplay related threads.

But really playing a lot will give you a natural handle of the game after a while.

I suggest to join cadet. Cadets are always welcome in the game. Everything you read there put it into practice.
Get your friend and practice together.
