I followed the instructions for setting up a local server for LAN games, and it all went pretty simply. My question is - does practicing in a LAN game affect the player level? I wouldn't want to go from (0) to (5) just putzing around on my own.

New player here, and just (hopefully, after router and antivirus fixes) got the PC set up to allow me to join games. Looking forward to playing. I see a lot of influence from this game in 'Conquest:Frontier Wars' and 'Homeworld', but the ship control aspect is a real plus.
