Reader halted - SOVLobby disconnection incidents should diminish
The situations where you'd abruptly drop out of the game due to SOVLogin losing connection with SOVLobby should all but disappear. Vencain relaxed the timing, so that SOVLogin will now try to connect to SOVLobby for a longer period before giving up.
Note that if your connection to the lobby indeed dies (as opposed to the occasional hiccup) Allegiance will still close.

Server auto-update fixed
There was a problem with the Allegiance Standalone Server auto-update sequence which materialized when we switched over to the new auto-update server last week.
This problem has now been fixed and retail standalone server now autoupdates correctly.

Episode II "attack of the clones" will be released on DVD and VHS in the UK on November 2nd 2002. Unfortunately the parallel "attack of the clowns" scheduled for this weekend will not take place as Valor lost to Dno :P

Autoupdate Change
The autoupdate mechanism has changed. The number of files on AU has been getting too big - we have now moved evertyhing, including 1.25, Quickchat Pack 1, Dreg and Alleg+ files into the new Allegiance Update Patch.
The autoupdate now only contains the latest cores and any newer files not in the patch. The patch is necessary to play Allegiance - it'll also configure Allegiance to properly autoupdate, like the previous patch.
I'd like to extend my thanks to NGRU Battledroid (aka Fish) who prepared the new patch and also the new ultra-small 33MB full Allegiance setup.

New MDLfx
Version 1.00 Beta 2 Build 3386 has been posted. I err'd in setting the initial registry entry hence some of you may have had difficulty using WebUpdate. This version fixes a number of problems and introduces one lousy one. Fixes: More settings on the options screen. Though the BrowserBar doesn't itself actually support filtering it should by friday. 48 byte memory leak was introduced when background fill color was fixed - I'm tracking this bad-boy down now. Allegiance Command Tournamnet begins this weekend!
Allegiance Command Tournament is a single-elimination contest between 16 commanders. The teams will be pickup (or randomized at the discretion of commanders) but you have to be there at the beginning of the game to be able to play - this is done to prevent post-start stacking. The games will begin AFTER the listed times once the public game is over. This weekend's games: August 24, Saturday 4pm Cable vs Pkk 9:30pm Spidey vs Lee Mazilli August 25, Sunday 3pm Your Persona vs DareDevil 5pm Vlymoxyd vs Souvlaki

Lobby Back Up... Sorry for the outage
Everything back up and running. Although it might have inconvenienced your Late Friday Night gaming we did learn a bug in SovLogin (it did not know the Lobby had crashed). Sorry for the outage but at least it's back up quicker than MS ever reset theirs!

Help utility Uploaded.

New SOVLogin eliminates need for ACS/reg files
New SOVLogin checks the registry CfgFile entry to make sure it points to our lobby and AU server. Therefore, for new installations, ACS or .reg files are no longer necessary. You can simply point all newbies to http://login.alleg.net and they'll be fine.
1.25 patch is no longer necessary either. AU will now update from retail to 1.25

Allegiance Authentication System in public beta testing
Allegiance Authentication System is designed to provide identity protection and anti-cheating measures for the community. It involves creating an account on the web, then using the frontend/launcher SOVLogin to launch Allegiance and connect to the secure lobby to play. You won't be able to play on the secured lobby without creating an account and using SOVLogin. More info can be found at: http://home.swbell.net/vencain/sovlogin.htm During phase II, anyone can connect to our secured lobby and test the waters by going to http://login.alleg.net and following the instructions there. Sometime later this week, possibly as soon as tomorrow, we'll move to phase III when our standard lobby will switch to secure mode and the use of SOVLogin will be mandatory to play. You will be able to see the Message of the Day even if you aren't running SOVLogin, therefore you'll know when the switch has taken place. We expect the cheat-prevention rate to be 100%. Until further notice, the authentication system will remain in beta status and all the usual considerations for beta products apply. If everything goes well, things should be finalized in less than two weeks. In the unlikely case that things don't go so well, we may revert back to unsecured mode. Thanks. Spunky p.s. SOVLogin and related components have been designed and written by VenCain. The web interface to AAS has been written by KGJV.

Authentication system Beta update
Just to let you know, at least from the player side the auth system works. The game yesterday (or this morning for those not lucky enough to have been born in an english speaking country that spells "football" as "soccer" ) was a complete success. Congrats of course to the dev team.

Authentication & Allegiance Download
Authentication is going into its first phase of beta. It is a simple system; 1st you sign up on the website, using your normal username and password, next you download the registry patch and apply it, then you download SOVGuard and turn it on, type in your username, and it starts allegiance. If you have access to the 'Locked Server Passwords' forum you can sign up, download, and participate. The Allegiance download is in closed beta right now. It works for the most part, and its only 45mb! Check the 'Locked Server Passwords' forum for more details.

Need your Files
If you have poasted any artwork/Models that you want AM to be able to use, Make sure there is a link to download the file! About 10% of the Pictures of models created do not have links to download the model. If you have access to delete Multimedia, then do so and re-Upload it with a link to the file. Otherwise just reupload and i'll removed the old ones. -YP

Hack Report
This is an update to our current anti-hack system. We have gone through our first ALPHA phaze about a week ago with the anti-hack and auth system. The results where....... COMPLETE SUCCESS! What is next on the list is to add the DB connection to the system. Once complete and it passes our second ALPHA test, we will release an open beta test to see how it can handle mass numbers of people. The end to cheating is near... Soon the game will be taken back by the community!

Cheaters and Allegiance.
Last week Allegiance was hit by the first hacks. Ships such as bombers have been modified so they can reach rediculous speeds of over 250mps. It has also been said that these cheaters are able to see the enemy even when not detected by their scanners. The cheaters are suspected to be FS_Black_SS, and Guns22 (although neither have been proven, players have reported players using those names cheating). As of yesterday a geocities page was posted on the VNboards containing the hack for download. Please DO NOT post the URL or reply to any topics with the website URL in them. There are game servers being set up by Noir and some others for individual games. This will filter out the cheaters temporarily. KGJV is working on a fix, which I believe is some type of server check which will not allow edited. KGJV's reply to this matter was "i'm playing rite now ;)". More news as it comes in.

DB BACK...Some things lost
Well I messed up and had to restore the db. This means some things are lost. You will have to repost them. I am sorry for the inconvenience but I have learned a valuable lesson. I don?t expect a problem like this to happen again. Remember this is a big project that is still being developed and changed every day. Unfortunately bumps will happen along the way. The goal is to learn from these bumps.... which I have!

Forum Section and Iframes....MMMMM!
I have been working on this Iframe code and think I have figured out how it works. I have changed the layout so it works with Iframe scolling only. This removes the chance of 2 scrollbars to deal with and allows the page to jump back to top. Let me know if there some other changes you would like to see. Just leave a post under the web development section of the forums.

Multimedia Section Up!!!
A Huge part of the site is now running! Early this morning I got the Multimedia section up and running. All features should work for everyone. It works extreamly well! Check it out and put up some of your favorit screen shots, Artwork, or model pics. Only Image formats can be uploaded right now. I am going to try and get AVI to work also. I will leave a post when that is up and running.

Delete Option fixed...
I believe I have worked out all the bugs to the delete option of the download section. I have also changed it so you can see all the info of the file your about to delete. Right now the delete feature is only for people with admin status. On the other hand I setup the upload so any member can add a file. Please... DON"T PUT TEST FILES UP I KNOW IT WORKS! Currently there is a 10 meg limit to the upload file size. This is to do 2 things. 1) keep this from becoming a "warez" site. 2) I am limited to the web space. I will be charged extra cash if it gets over 200 Megs. YOU are responsible for the files YOU upload. Make sure they are virus free and they are legit files for Allegiance. (ie: NO PORN!) If you have a question about the file your about to post ask first! If we find something there that doesn't belong we will restrict access immediately! Now that I have laid down the law... START USING IT!

Download section just about where I want it.
I am not sure if we will be using this layout for the download section. If we do it's just about where I want it. Only real problem with it is you need to re-enter the exact file name in another field after you select the file you want to upload. If anyone wants to look at the code for it and get it to work feel free to ask! Get Uploading! If you want access to upload just ask!

MMMM QUICK CHATS
Starting to add the quick chats! This will be slow but expect new chats on a regular basis. I will not be adding all chats because it will make the file size to big for people to use. So chats like Found Lava or Defend Defenders will not be added. But do expext the wonderfull chat of.... YOU SUCK! I would need someone to map out all the keys need for each chat so I can keep it as close to Allegiance as possible.

What is up with ALLEGIANCE?
Well its been down for some time now and it seems that know one knows whats going on. Well this is no longer true! It turns out that they tried to implement the final patch and screwed up the game. (what else is new) So it will take some time till the fix what they did. Go ahead and play SOV games to get over the withdraw. I will continue working on this site and in a few more days hope the game gets back up.

FS COMMANDS FOR PLAYER
If you use the ACC core from the player then the MIN, MAX, and CLOSE buttons work. The CLOSE button will also let other people know that you have quit in the chat. If you are viewing the site through IE these buttons dont do anything yet. Although the close button will Display you have quit.

I GOT IT WORKING!! you can now see how has been chatting/logon for the last 3min. After that the person would have timed out and would be removed from the list. There is no message yet for when people time out but i am hoping to figure out a way soon. I will set up the Online to let you click on the persons name and get more info about that person. SITE BUG FIXED
There was a problem with IIS shutting down and restarting. I checked MS and there was a fix for it. So we should not have that problem anymore. The only error you may recieve now from the site is MAX USER reached.. or something like that. This will be fixed when the site is uploaded to a real server. This should happen in about a week or so. I will make sure that you all konw when this happens. Also the NEWS server is running strong. You will be able to get up-to-date information there for SOV games and other Allegiance news. The online checker is still not working. Its pissing me off so I am going to start working on the Message Board. If I get new ideas on how to get by the bug I ran into I will finish working on it. ABOUT THIS SITE
Hello everyone and welcome to the new home of ALLEGIANCE! Wow have we come so far in so little time. Well the chat is working now. If you have problems with it Read the FRQ before you go to the login. There is a change you have to do to your browser so that it updates correctly. TC_Firebird has finished the help files in the NEWBIE ZONE. Next project is the People online. This will show who is currently active on the site. After that part is completed i will create admin fuctions so people with admin status can update or add news events and soon to come message boards. Things to come.... QUICK CHATS!!
